@@TheAppalachianStoryteller mine to ,he lived to be 97 years old ,I am so grateful that I got to know him and one of the stories I remember him telling was when he was a coalminer he said they would use birds as a warning system which I found so fascinating!!! About 2 years before he passed he still had a garden and his beloved dogs and he worked myself and my brother until we were exhausted and I mean that wonderful old man kept right on working and talking about how us kids had got "cityfied " and in his day you only stopped to eat and sleep !!! Gosh I would love to go back to those days with him ,!! Thank you J.D for doing these amazing videos for all of us !!

Society was much different. Right was right and wrong was wrong. Today, that is totally bassackwards. Think about the impression that a hanging would have on a kid. "If you become a criminal, this is how you'll end." Today's society could probably use a little "Tough Love." "Wow! That was a heck of a thump. Pass me some more of that chicken."

@@TheAppalachianStoryteller I really wish I did, truth is, I know very little about the history of my area. I love the history of the 1800s the most and I know it goes back a good ways, because we have several old homestead foundations and chimneys around, left to rot and have been forgotten. A buddy of mine has even found civil war bullets here and I've found graves marked with a simple rock in the woods in places. I know some of those date back to atleast the civil war because I've known people that had them dated and even searched to make sure no remains were still there. Some of the people that had them searched were buildin houses back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
