Please don’t distort the definition of an artist to be so inclusive, otherwise the word loses its meaning. He’s a clinical psychologist, a professor but not an artist. Took a friend to the opera Madame Butterfly. It's in Italian. She doesn't speak Italian. Half way through, she grabbed me, sobbing, saying "it's so sad, oh God, it's so sad!" That's great art. Listening to Peterson describe the painting, I started crying too. He took me there, to that moment when our mortality touches the immortal, the eternal just beyond reach-so beautiful.

The way he weaves in every discipline as well is fascinating. Like a kaleidescope of rope weaving.... a strand of psychology, Philosophy, one of religion, art, children's stories, sociology, history, politics, everyday humanity issues of existence etc etc. What an artist he is himself. Absolutely amazing life's legacy... and he gives away all of his most personal thoughts, vulnerabilities and understandings. I've always, since I was really little (and I'm 15), engaged with art and was perplexed and mesmerised by art, especially artworks and animation. I always found meaning in the unknown. When a mystery presents whether is in school, internet, the streets, etc I get this feeling of wanting to know more and engage with it as much as possible. I love the process of discovering mystery and the journey it takes to know, understand and articulate it to get to the truth. Hearing Jordan talk about this motivates me to follow a creative career. Idk I just wanted to rant a little about my life, potential and future. I get really anxious and scared of the future but I also look forward to it, It's a strange feeling. This is true. One of the worst things I've EVER done is not buy this incredible painting I once saw. I said to myself it was out of my price range because I was pushing on broke and depressed, but it was actually affordable considering the priceless, eerie, transcendental feeling I got from looking at it - I literally almost cried. $100 repays itself quickly in some cases. The image of it still haunts me to this day. It is literally burned in my mind for eternity. DON'T DO THAT!

100% agree. Pink Floyd, Hendrix’s univibe solos, and Tool have a transcendent quality that I haven’t experienced in other music. Maybe I just like the particular places those artists take me, but that numinous “vibe” is what I want in my own music...if I could only learn to follow my intuition, bc that’s what makes the sounds sound.

I've been trying to do this in my own life. You find something that interests you, and you may not understand why it interests you, but it just does. So you pursue that and embody it and see where it takes you. Act out your intuition creatively and see what you create. Like, when you're creating a song, don't think, "I want to create a sad song about ___" just unleash yourself to write whatever sounds interesting to you and whatever sounds and words you like, and that intuition can guide you.

The process of working his poems out to me is a journey indeed. I go off on a tangent and learn all sorts of things to do with absolutely anything. It seems like we've had these savants, these people who far exceed the general population to a greater extent in the past than we do today. Where are all of our great thinkers? I'm really beginning to believe that Mr. Peterson represents one of those people. It’s good to see that people do listen sometimes and the suffering of my life was not for nothing. I know it wasn’t for me. In the eons I have traveled through I have seen and learned much. That’s why I want to help humans evolve. In a cathedral, the singular light pours through the windows in multicolored fragments which reflect the singular light and meaning of all life. Reason enough for me to build and learn. ❤️🌈👁 To stare into the sun and not be blind, to stand with the creator in glory. Reason enough for all pain. To love the pain which motivates the fulfillment of the destiny of the soul. This is awesome 😎

As an artist that has been chasing craftsmanship and disregarding my intuitive part, I now after a long time regret it. I've always thought people have stories to tell in their heads and that mine are shit. That anyone can draw from imagination and that I should focus on developing my skill to be a better draftsman and that there's no such thing as drawing from imagination but drawing from memory. I'm not sure that's true, I've always drawn and written from intuition, I think Stephen king would say that I've always worked as a gardener, gardeners don't think, they react to their environment. Instead I find myself being less able to rely on my intuitive ability the less I trust myself, people who need rules to create do not have the ability, but they're trying to aquire it. It's almost as if I've loathed myself for not being able to create the same thing twice, how hard I've tried to draw like Steve Huston or Glenn vilppu has just made me grow sick of making art. I think I'm finally understanding what I should do. How bleak view of the world we have today, we need to revitalize belief in the unknown. **rant over**

I’ve never heard anyone speak about artists this highly. My weight fluctuates throughout each year because I have to traverse between Heaven and Hell in order to top my latest pieces. I know I have to stay up all night, indulge in substances that activate different parts of my brain, isolate myself, and have a crap diet in order to go a little further into Hell. Once I honor my visions, I immediately get disciplined with fitness, diet, and cut off substances cold turkey. I’ll voluntarily go through the withdrawal stage because I feel like my destiny depends on me returning to optimal health. Depending on if I’m possessed by a creative vision, I’ll either weigh 180 pounds at 6’3, or 205 and jacked. I’ll fluctuate about 2-3 times a year. I have no choice when the visions come and I know I’ll suffer more if I fail to finish the piece.

True artists don’t need drugs and alcohol to create something original or to induce creativity. Their own natural eccentricities and unfiltered perceptions are enough to create something unique and thought provoking that has exceptional depth and potential to change the world. You are spot on about transcendence. Art, image and colour are connecting us to the underlying unseen forces which push and pull our bodies minds and souls. Moreover, they are manipulating them on a basic level. There is so much more for humans to learn. We don't know what we don't know.........

It made me cynical towards capital A Art for a long time, until I discovered JBP and Pageau. Being raised catholic in the rural south, I have a receptor for the experience of being awash in the grandiose sacredness of liturgical art but I also identify with the humble protestant farmer energy. Mixed into that is the thirst I still have for the raw emotional power inside the black holiness churches I went to a few times as a kid with my nanny. I don’t know what art is but i know a glass of water with a clever title ain’t it. 🤠

He highlights the critical role of art in facilitating this process and stresses the importance of making a connection with art and beauty. "A real piece of art is a window into the transcendant. You need that in your life because you are finite and limited and bounded by your ignorance and lack your of knowing. Unless you can make a connection with the transcendant you don't have the strength to prevail" "Beauty is a pathway towards God"

As a punk rock/ deathcore/ metalcore kid, I love this. I find musical cathedrals in various albums; Songs, or certain parts of songs, contain both harsh, brutal and angry-sounding evil, chaotic elements and beautiful, clean and clear, soothing and calm elements. It's like the clean and calm is the light of God shining into the forest of worldly chaos of the harsh and angry parts (like Jordan's description of gothic cathedrals), and some artists nail that down so perfectly I just throw my headphones down and want to cry. I play violin, mostly bluegrass fiddle but I can and have done a lot of classical. Likewise I sing, I can and have done musicals, hymns and contemporary Christian songs. At the same time, though, I get behind my drum kit and double pedal-blast beat-breakdown my way forward aided by my harsh china cymbal stack, and I develop my low, open growls and high, shrill frye screams to the metalcore and deathcore chaotic rhythm. It's the balance between light and dark, the grey. It's Jordan's expose on knowing both how to be good and how to be evil, how true gentleness comes from knowing how and having the ability to be bad and overpowering, yet voluntarily choosing to be civil and safe, but in musical form. Still not sure how my new interest in rappers like J Cole and Vince Staples fits into this lol.

Loss of self guides intuition, to recognize these characteristics that emerge through desires or lack there of and watch how they dance on our perception and experience is truly embodied in any true artistic outward expression manifesting a perceptional transfer of emotional experience, art can be so simple that everyone gets it or embodies everybody while no one understands, c'est la vie

@@MrJamberee thanks for the constructive criticism, I have difficulty articulating things in a more palatable manner because I forget not everybody comprehends what they are perceiving. Your life is a song are either playing along with it or you're trying to find another tune, true artist see this and try to express it without actually saying so that's the nature of intuition his to know your purpose in place and also adapt to anything that arises, sort of like jazz if you're so inclined

That is where I am right now, having been awakened to the reality of my narcissistic and sadistic husband after 15 years, and then spending another 4 trying to understand before I finally got to the end of my rope. During that suffering, I started doing art again, and writing again. But I still can't get an image or a sentence to explain the reality. I will keep trying though. It is the only way to understand. It is the only thing that might save me.

But I just keep doing it I explore the vast world the intuitive and every day I strive to show people what the art can bring forth. Again thank you

"..and they don't know what they are doing exactly" - I don't know what it's like in other countries, but here in Germany, if you create something as an "Artist", you always have to attach some kind of explanation as to WHY you did what you did. Especially if you want to get some funding. It's really horrible. Maybe that's one of the reasons why today Germany is so poor, not economically, but culturally. It's run by a horde of utilitarists who have no clue about the process.
