I rode the amtrak train from Virginia to Chicago. For some reason when it was night time, I looked out of the train window, I thought about her. Running up north, in the dark without light other than the moon, scared, very little food and tired. Her spirit was with me during the night. I will never forget how I felt. She had the spirit of God with her because in the woods, in the dark, alone. I don't think I couldn't have done it. God bless her soul and may she rest in peace.

A great story about a courageous woman who inspires both faith and confidence in the human spirit. Slavery was despicable and makes me contemptuous of southern history but then there were the true christian men and women who fought and helped eradicate this despicable bondage. History cannot be erased however. This film should be called '....lest we forget'. Thank you for this.

I read in the book, "From Sea to Shining Sea" by P. Marshall & D. Manuel that there were truly Christian folks in the south who, when they inherited slaves set out to free them, but the slaves REQUESTED that they be allowed to stay! The reason why is that the road to freedom wad dangerous, and they feared 😨 being put with a master who would MISTREAT them!!!! So, some of the southern slave owners heard their slaves, and kept them at the slave's request. The south was, essentially trapped by their own cultural norms until the north forced them to change. I am proud of my Mom's northern Pilgrim/Puritan heritage, but my father's maternal family were southerners! The one in that family line I am proudest of was Jesse Simeon Mason, who was one of those rare North Carolinian southerners who fought for the north because he was against his own family's slave-holding.

"Harriet" is a million times better than this. It's more historically accurate and the acting is better. The characters speak more like they're in the 1970's than the 1800's. This movie is also very slow and it takes forever to get to the point. I love Cicely, but this movie isn't all that great.

How far could they have gone if quakers, and people with humanity didn’t help them? Slavery didn’t start in this country and it is STILL going on. As a black woman how dare you paint another group of people with the same brush. As if you don’t understand the challenges women of color today face. Agreed, everyone is speaking of how beautiful this movie was, I do think it's a good informative movie on slavery, the treatment of this poor woman was so degrading and heartbreaking it doesn't matter how determined people say she was she shouldn't have ever had to go through so much awful hazing and abuse. She was so sweet too.

Such Love! I've heard that some believe in, that because You're the Son of Elohim, You suffered less, during Your distress. But then, they completely forget, that You're the Son of man, yet; Which learned obedience through all Your sufferings, but always without any sins! Thank You, Lord, that during Your life down here, You stood against all kind of temptation, to prepare a way for my salvation! I'm so grateful for those precious Words in the garden of Gethsemane, in the middle of Your agony ; "Abba Father....not as I will, but as You will!" Nobody took Your life, Lord, but You gave it freely, went through all the pain, scorn and slaughter, because You love us dearly! How can I ever comprehend such Love, which eternal life did bestow?! All I can do, is believe and receive, forever praise Your Name ; which salvation for me became!
