It still has to be noted that the Soviets were already bogged down in several guerilla wars. Many of these groups also had knowledge of this operation. Assistance that unfortunately never arrived

An invasion of the Soviet Union might not have been successful, would have cost potentially millions of Allied lives, and would have prevented Japan from surrendering in 1945. Preventing Japan from surrendering would cause an invasion of Kyushu, which would have killed over 1 million Japanese and close to 120 thousand Americans. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Considering we have an actual name (the Lost Generation) for the number of missing young people between the start of WW1 and the end of WW2, I'm really scared to think about the demographical changes globally from a third World War right before birth rates globally could recover, especially since this war would no doubt require more manpower on all sides combined than WWII.

There are so many mistakes in this video that I cant even mentioned all , especially mistake by omission 1) The guerila forces in eastern Europe and the total hatred of eastern europeans for all that was soviet and comunist much higher than in the west , a Red Scare on steroids even before 1939 4 milion allies troops in Europe US was untouched by the war except for Pearl Harbour US alone had produce 3 times or airplanes than the Soviets The obiective of operațional untinkable was to push the soviets back in their borders not to attack Moscow

I think option 2 would have been the most likely, except 1 bomb on each war. If they planned them to hit on the same day, the effect would be much the same. The threat of more landing would have both willing to talk favorable terms to the allies.

14:17 - 15:37 No, no and no. What do you think the people that inhabited these areas has to say to that? The people from these nations would arise against this terror attack. To make speculated devastating attacks, you have to hit Mosco or Leningrad or actually strategic places that are only within the USSR and not the areas that were re-captured by USSR. This is just insane to even think that the already oppressed nations would happily give consent or celebrate to be destroyed. I wonder what the western area would have a say about that. Most of the allies would likely just disassemble because they don't want to be part of mass-genocide this scale.

This is far too optimistic for the allies. The soviets had a massive superiority in in troops, tanks. artillery and so on.

Not really, by the end point of the war, the Soviets were crippled, exhausted from 4 years of constant fighting and heavy losses, their economy was essentially destroyed, its people of the verge of starvation and it's troops longed to go home, pile on the fact the soviet airforce leaned heavily upon lend leased high-octane fuel, the army also relied on lend leased trucks, boots, rations and materials to make high quality explosives and would be subjected to a strangulation via blockade, I can see Operation Unthinkable succeeding and the Soviet Union actually collapsing.

It would take a long time to rebuild French, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch, Austrian, and Belgium's forces to anywhere near the capable of facing an enemy. Let alone the soviet juggernaut of post ww2. Allied tanks were having trouble against german armour, soviet armour had experienced even more rapid improvement over german on the eastern front. The allies had the naval and strategic bombing forces hands down. But would have struggled in a ground war. Yes, the soviets needed material aid in the war especially after having to relocate or scorch their own manufacturing bases. But they were now scourering the conquerored territory for strategic rescources and had established their own manufacturing base well into their own territory. Soviet infantry had more automatic weaponry and had plenty of artillery of all calibres and decent close air support, although the western allies would have been able to severely hamper that. The newer tank designs might have helped, but by may 45 only a couple hundred pershings and a dozen centurion tanks and againts IS2s and 3s.
