The problem is that Jay made it, had Tupac and Biggie not have passed? They would have had someone hating on them saying that NaS and Jay were better, which is why you have to ignore these people. No disrespect to Gipp, but I hear things like this and I think it’s short sighted and one sided. Jay was successful for a multitude of reasons. It was his drive, his unique ability to rap and finding the right balance between commercial appeal and hardcore style. When guys like Raekwon and AZ made mafioso rap sound glamorous, Jay made it sound realistic. The ups and downs of it.

"There is no best rapper" is probably the smartest thing he said. Gipp is just howling at the moon and won't get a drop of rain at this point just like Gene Deal with Puff Daddy. Jay-Z wrote one of Dre's biggest or most memorable hits. Dre is an entity unto himself. He don't need no Roc Nation brunch. Dre said it himself: You can make beats all day but you still have to PRODUCE the song. He said that on Ice T's Art of Rap documentary. Puff plays no instruments but he still PRODUCES. It's just like with those rock n roll guys: The group is playing all the instruments but they still need a PRODUCER.

The number 1 rapper or any artist in any genre is subjective. There’s always gonna be a list of who is the greatest. Jay Z checks off a lot of boxes whether he’s your favorite or not. Jay still comes from that golden era class and the story of RocaFella was always told as if they were the underdog and doors were shut in their face initially. I bought Goodie Mob first album when I was 13/14 and started buying Jay Z album(s) overtime as they released….Jay was always on the come up (it seemed) and definitely not an over night sensation. The content was drug based/big Willie conversation rap, but there’s no doubt the shit was good. If he wasn’t dope, do you think Biggie would’ve had him as a feature on Life after Death? Why does a man that is still living have a song (big brother) dedicated to him? I think Nas is the greatest rapper by the way, I just understand why Jay would be at the top or in the top 5.

Nas put Jay to sleep with either, but let's face it whether u like Jay or not he will ALWAYS be in that top 10, top 5 goat category....point blank..and NOBODY was sellin ticket prices like at Jay's prices other than Jay either. I'm not even a Jay Z fan but this is crazy. Jay hasn't used Biggie lines in about 15yrs and still had hits since then. He must don't realize he's talking about most of the Atlanta rappers. Especially Jeezy, Gucci, Lil Baby, T.I. and Migos. If you're as successful as you say why is there a need to hate on someone else's success. He didn't get Meek and 21 Savage out of jail like Jay Z. He didn't help Lil Wayne with his contract dispute like Jay Z. How much running water did he bring to an African village like Jay Z. Every man has his own path to walk. Worrying about how someone else is eating is how your food gets cold. He might as well just say the truth. He doesn't get the love and shine another man is getting so he's envious. You can tell Jay Z is in his head. All the problems Black ppl face everyday and he's worried about how other Black people make it out the hood and change their life. On top of that every rapper he called teachers praise Jay Z for his lyrical skill and success. He acts like he never been on tracks with rappers who talk about money and selling dope. Smh🤦🏾‍♂️

We created trap and that’s all hustling is. But for him to downplay another man cuz he think he the best is wack to me. As matter fact KRS-1 on several occasions said he could out rap any rapper if you put them in front of them. When Jay say he Mike Jordan of recording now you get mad. And yes he can back it up because he raps off top of the dome. Gipp gotta stop with the reaching. Don’t become another Faizon Love bruh it ain’t a good look. Or Jaguar Wright for that matter. Jay-Z done humbly put more money in Niggaz pockets these last 10-12 years and help Niggaz get outta prison. But to talk down on a man without reasoning is questionable of who you are.
