Every time I get ready to start a painting, I will watch one of your tutorials and find reminders of the fundamental concepts that lead to a rewarding project. Never rush, deferent methods and styles and give yourself breaks, observation is key, etc..... most of all, enjoy the process. People that I share my work with are amazed but I know without this channel, I wouldn't be where I'm at, many thanks to you.

My email address is in the "about" section here on youtube. Reach out whenever you'd like. Thanks again for everything. Keep painting!!

Again what a fantastic picture. I love wolves. Can I ask do you do you base design freehand I note you draw boxes. I really love your work.😊
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 10 ай бұрын
Thanks Roger! Yes, I like to use grids and to draw freehand. I have a few videos showing how I draw in my lines- the rose one for beginners, and the lastest one being the ear study. But there is nothing wrong with tracing or using a projector to get in your outlines- whatever works for you.

Brilliant again Mark! Always good to know how long it takes you in real time👍 I really appreciate you uploading these videos in high quality as coupled with the excellent zoom function (8x) in the KZbin app I can really see what is going on. I learn a lot from what you decide to sketch in before you start painting especially with this wolf. Speaking of Wolves....I wonder if you have seen Wes Anderson's adaptation of The Fantastic Mr Fox? The Wolf scene is fantastic (pardon the pun)🐺 Cheers mate. Your videos are an absolute delight ✌️

Turned out awesome man. Which stick eraser, in your opinion, is more aggressive, the faber castell or the stadler mars? I have the Faber castell and was honestly thinking about getting the other option to try. I noticed that you use both in the same painting so figured they might be a little different. Thanks in advance for your answer, it's very much appreciated as is your videos. After Christmas I do plan on becoming a member, you deserve a little kickback for all of the great content
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I've always thought that the staedtler was more aggressive, but it's very tough to tell. They are very similar to me to be honest. I have so many of both that I'm just using which ever one is closest to me when i'm painting. Becoming a member is never necessary. Just hanging out and watching the videos is more than enough support!!

how did you ake the sketch to begin ? Focussing on the dark/white differences ?
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 9 ай бұрын
I usually focus on the main edges first- the outlines of the eyes, nose, mouth, the head/ears, etc. Then I sketch in the outlines between the values. Basically the separation between the lights and darks. Hope this helps!

Crazy how good this is. I attempted this but realized I was doomed after fucking up the eye lol
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop 11 ай бұрын
nah man you can 100% paint it! Just have to take it slower. Don't think of the whole painting at once. Just work on the eye, spend a day on it if you have to. One small part at a time. Mistakes are a huge part of painting and you'll just get better at hiding them as you improve. Thats what i do- best of luck to you

So basically you are using earesers too do the painting. Airbrush for the shading. Just asking.

that's a good way of putting it. I probably work more with an eraser than my airbrush in some paintings. Depends on the piece and what types of paints im using
