My two favorit parts: when you got him home and you got water for him, you put it down and Pom Poms goes right up there and starts drinking it. Then he is in the kitchen and Hooch kisses him twice on his nose, to tell him it's okay we all love you!! My heart is so full after watching this, thank you!❤❤❤

Roger is just lovely, I did write before about having my 3rd rescue Dane his names Jackson and he's 6 now. I got him when he was 3 years old and he came to me with little or no training. He was willing to learn and just wanted to please thank goodness as he's 80kg in weight. They all do the sitting on the couch thing and it's hysterical how they reverse onto the couch and just sit down. God bless you for giving Roger a chance and he looks as if he's fitting in fine with the pack.

Lee, I did love in the beginning when you said you "couldn't stop smiling, that your cheeks hurt".. I feel like that whenever I press play on one of your videos. I've just recently started following you but I've always been passionate and have rescued and fostered many... It was a way to combine my love of travel and still be able to have dogs (and few cats and a miniature pig) in my life... this year, dealing with health issues I've had to suspend all of that .. but have been given the go-ahead by my oncologist to begin my search for a support dog. I've never seen it from this end but between your channel and a few other resources I hope to go ahead and have a forever dog in my life soon... cheers, and keep spreading the love!

You will find that is usually only a problem with outside dogs. If your dog lives in house as family, and they are happy and secure, there is very little barking. That eill disappear very quickly. Except for maybe a single bark, if being playful, or complaining. Only time it usually happens, is if the dog is pretty new and has separation anxiety, if their humans go out. If inside, they usually come up and look at you, if there is a problem, or do a little whine, for attention, like I need to pee...

Lee’s intuition is seriously commendable. Some dogs he doesn’t introduce immediately or would only let a few select dogs meet before introducing the rest of the pack. When you run a rescue, your dogs get very used to new arrivals. They are just, "Hi. Grab a bed..." The only possible problems are if you have some newer alphas in the group. It's the new dog that is uptight. New dog who possibly feels there is something to prove. But if a big group, a new dog won't start a punch up. They know they are new arrivals in established pack. If they start a fight, it could be every dog against one. There is a very strict etiquette. So new dogs, in big packs, are usually very polite. Very careful. In small groups, or just one or two dogs, a new dog might feel he or she can dominate - but if new dog doesn't have old owner with them, they are usually far more willing to be very polite. So introducing, it is VERY IMPORTANT to not have old human there, if dog is 'strong' If dog is used to being pushy and aggro, it will behave as always, because it thinks old owner expects it to - that is the pattern they have created. With a strange human, who is confident, who does not accept antisocial behaviour, dog is on best behaviour. It is in new place, new human. All the old habits are not safe. Think of it as going to boarding school. And arriving from a train, escorted by new teacher or school nurse. You go quiet and polite and spend time working out where you will fit in, how strict it will be, who might be the school bully or be your main competitor. So in about a month, there might be a few squabbles. You have to shut them down and keep an eye on them, and not put them in situations for jealousy, until it settles. In fact, there is, what I call, a honeymoon period. It is often around a month, but can be days, week or 3 months from first arrival. There comes a period where dog no longer feels an unsure visitor. And established dogs realise this one isn't passing through. So then there can be jostling. Then you can get personal rivalries pop up. You have to be aware of that and shut down problems. Early on, many people relax too early. Think everything will be wonderful, because there weren't any punch ups at the start. You have to really watch the individuals. You know the dogs likely to cause the problems. It's always the same few. I have rescued for 40 years. I had a permanent 'family' of 9 dogs, and up to 14, at a time.

@blujeans94622 жыл бұрын
Transformation? He acts like most Danes act when they're totally normal, already. Lol! Looks well adjusted; very healthy; no issues that I see (and I've owned 7 of them). Although I don't think I would have been so confident with the loose leash at the airport - most are very nervous in strange environments - and will bolt at the slightest fear; even strong people can't hold one once they decide to bolt. Roger did excellent!! He is extremely well adjusted and was very well taken care in socialization. Only area that I see could be a problem: too many dogs. Danes need a huge amount of personal love to feel confident. He will be fine, healthy and happy being one of 10, but he won't thrive. He'll hang back a lot - letting others take center stage. My Danes were the happiest as the only one - even though I prefer having two. Every time I added a 'friend' for one of my Danes they lost that spark - their eyes lost that happiness and seemed to say, I thought it was only going to be you and me? Danes love people way more than dogs.
