Get experience, make sure you really enjoy being away from friends and family for weeks, make sure you can support yourself on a mediocre few hundred dollars paycheck and most of all, make sure you can endure being treated like a piece of meat for the first year or two. Truth is, you will probably end up with a mega carrier for the experience, and you will be broke and treated like a piece of shit until you find a good gig. Tens of thousands of new and seasoned owner ops go broke and out of business within the first 2 years of business, that's reality not what you see on this channel. For every success story on this channel, there's a thousand guys who lost their trucks, their wives, their kids, their homes and their dignity. Welcome to the real world of trucking. Live like a king one year, and possibly on welfare the next year. 2018 we are getting 5 and 6 dollars a mile, do we buy another truck or two? 2019, the rates are 3 bucks a mile, can you still afford the trucks you purchased the year before, and still feed your family? Be smart, get experience, you can make damn good money on one truck, even after tax, if you are smart. I have 3 trucks, on track to gross at minimum, 450k per truck. That's 1.3 million dollars this year BEFORE fuel, ifta, insurance, wages, maintenance, etc. My trucks are all paid off, trailers are paid, but fuel will be 60k or more per truck, driver wages will be 270k or more, 8 drive tires will cost 4800,and on and on but I will still live good and so will my wife and kids. So, get experience, be intelligent, be motivated and don't get greedy. Watch the rates, get good customers, build good broker relationships etc and you'll be successful.

Man there's options ,,,, mist schools will finance the cost . Or sign with a truck company that will cover the cost but you have to drive with them for 1 year. I did the 1st option....

I love that truck older ones are better in my opinion if you can fix them. Chrome wheels are hot on that trailer….. I’m going to look for an older truck like this guy……it’s cool 😎.

I love the slow truckers. It's the fast ones I don't like. 15 over the limit in the country is one thing but in the city going 80 is just dangerous. Slow down if you're a trucker.
