Sounds like she put a lot of thought and time into that objection, and he wouldn't even let her finish ...haha

I agree that she was untimely in her response- yes it was from the day before's viewing etc, BUT the defense also should have caught that when they were reviewing the interview initially. I also think requesting. Mistrial is a bit overdoing it as well based on her objection as the judge said, its to late now to do this- file an appeal afterwards if need be. I get, on both sides, that this is a huge case, and it's being broadcast which is not " normal" but , you still need to not let your frustrations override your professionalism.

I don't know if channel 7 looks at these comments or not, but I have a question I can't find the answer to. Is it customary to play such large portions of a psychiatric examination (almost al of it) in trials involving the insanity defense where an expert has been appointed by the court to exam the defendant? Or is what is happening during this trial unusual? I know video evidence is allowed, and I know that a court appointed expert exam is allowed based on the idea that without it the state would have no way of disproving the insanity claim, so the courts have, in the past, determined that it does not violate the right against self-incrimination. But is so much video evidence usually allowed and presented? Does this happen in other trials? Thank you for any info you can find.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know it was the defense that wanted the whole tape played. They must have changed their minds because yesterday they asked the judge to declare a mistrial. They felt the tape gave up his right against self-incrimination. .

@@skywriting33 He plead NOT GUILTY, based on the insanity defense, he did not plead guilty.

@@Htimez2 Actually he's basically pleading guilty but insane at the time of the act. There no contesting that James committed this homicide, it's asking the jury to find him not morally responsible , and taking the death penalty off the table.

How can any parent of J Holmes maintain they still love him??
@teatimedrinker1

Is this a serious question? You obviously are not a parent. They know what he did is not forgivable in the eyes of others as well as I'm sure they don't for one minute, not(left that word out somehow initial post) feel terrible about the lives lost/ destroyed because of his actions. And that he will be paying for that for them for rest of his life. However they also know he is mentally ill and whether you people want to believe it or not, there are times when those illness can I we run and in this case, to the extreme. You simply can't say he should have known better as when the mind is not processing properly, you aren't seeing/feeling it. I don't have a psychological background so I cannot go any further with that comment, but just trying to show what I feelbis the other side of the coin Not making light of what James did, but asking you: do you think your parents would stop loving you?

@@teatimedrinker1 If I did anything close as J Holmes did, then I would not expect my parents to Love me. I would think of it as not genuine and not real Love. And by the way I am a parent.

@@aceball7076 and so am i. And I guess maybe I'm different. Granite I've not been in that situation. And I think it's one thing for James not to expect any emotions from his parents after this, but as a parent I mean, like I said you don't know till it happens, I just can't imagine that you would throw your child away so to speak, and this may not sound good but no matter what. I mean as a mom, I carried my children for 9 months gave birth to them and have cared for them even up to now and they're in their twenties. I could be wrong, I guess I just don't see it. Not to say you don't have the right to feel that way that is you. I guess I'm just putting mine out there too. 🤗
