KZbin comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of KZbin comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Gorge doesn't know how to have a conversation, he can't take turns. He just keeps talking while the other person is taking their turn. He must be a preacher, he does all the talking, while everyone else just listens.

Kenny called! This episode is 8 years old and Kenny is still calling in 2021. Still trying to lead the evidence towards his beliefs but at least he's still calling.

When I hear people like Kenny I always think of that king in LOTR that had wormtung whisper poison in his ears so he got all corrupted. He's arguing that it was morally justified to murder children. Whats the harm? There's the harm.

Get a mob of devout catholic believers together in one place with the expectation of a "miracle" to occur and Anything can happen, these people will fervently create a mass hallucination that supports their ego/beliefism.

@@Crashawsome yup I see that... I just don't like the new host as much as I did during this time, but yeah its probably mostly because I had way more familiarity with them. But if the new people had struck me in a good way I would have probably watched them more and enjoyed them too.

@@franktheexpertstrenchclub9025 Yes, there isn't anyone else I can think of that is like him, he's in a class of his own. You can see elements of people like Oscar Wilde, PG Wodehouse, Evelyn Waugh etc, but none of them have the same combination of wit and weirdness that Saki did. He comes up with quotable lines all the time. I don't think it's an accident that Noel Coward was a fan.

@@jshaers96 Absolutely! As far as I know, I have yet to read any E. Waugh, but love me some Wilde and Wodehouse, and there's absolutely some shared Saki sensibility and energy there. Oh nice, I didn't know that Noel Coward was a fan, but that makes perfect sense. Have you seen the Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode of The Schartz-Metterklume Method? It's pretty fun.

Well. To be fair, if it’s a miracle, part of the miracle would presumably be preventing life-ending disaster, along with the dancey-sun stuff. Come to think of it, since people around world didn’t see the same phenomenon, the miracle was apparently the planting of visions in the crowd’s suggestible brains. Which is much less impressive.

"Clouds of ice crystals at high altitude can create “sun dogs” or false suns and bands of rainbow colour, and sun dances may be a more complex variation of such effects. Wirowski's work indicates that if the crystals pick up an electric charge they could oscillate and produce effects such as the miracle of the sun."
