@David Anewman Oh. While a minister, I could no longer be honest within the church. I will not disparage them, since it was my own beliefs that changed. It is an honest living now, as: 1. I have never been encouraged to push a sale, even when adding warranties or credit. I sell millions per year, but make no promises of performance, reliability, delivery or install dates. 2. As a minister, it was expected that I appeal to emotion, especially in youth ministry. I was good at it, but it was sick. 3. in my current job, I can be honest with others. It's only come up a couple of times in 5 years, but some people at work know I'm atheist. If just 1 person knew at my church, it would mean lost job, home, and community. 4. My wife, a deacon, knows I am an unbeliever. That's the most honest living I know. whew!

@Dave Males (and THE PEOPLE SING) Well, in a way it IS amazing that these shows still NEED to be created. THE PEOPLE SING is right in that both the theist callers try to peddle the same old debunked arguments (and I also have to admit they are usually INDEED unbelievably arrogant) and that the show hosts offer the appropriate (but inevitably indeed also the same) rebuttals. "Atheist Minion" however, is a contradiction in terms; theists apparently still don't get it that atheism is precisely DEVOID of anything to follow. For all I know, the only thing one needs to "follow" or "submit to" (i.e. *UNDERSTAND),* are the rules of logic. But apparently, this is terra incognita to theists. So, these compartmentalized egos probably get their kick out of repeating the ruthless power ramblings of their favorite ancient brutal egotistical imaginary sky agent, hero, friend, and archetypal mafia boss. So I guess that the show hosts will indeed have to be satisfied toasting those until they're done. Fun for the audience to listen to, though... ;-)

THE PEOPLE SING A show where people discuss and point out the flaws of religious beliefs? How absurd! For real though, you seem scared and offended. I wonder why.
@SilentMonkey2010x6 жыл бұрын
You are correct that the shows seem very similar. The core question is, "Why do you believe what you believe?" and "is this position rationally justified?" What would be innovative and different is if an answer was provided that made sense. And if exploring the reasons about why you believe in religion is just arrogance and satisfying minion's compartmentalized ego boosts, then Friday/Saturday/Sunday services are really weird activities that a lot of people participate in.

@@arjanstam78 First, to be clear, all this is tongue-in-cheek. But if we are going to say "Elvis is still dead", _we are making a positive claim._ At that point, burden of proof would be on us. Aron Ra reached me on a factual level beyond belief today. Once here people like you two and also Tracy have made it so clearly evident. I also found a card from the Secular Hub in Denver and look forward to a lifetime free from lies and deception. Thank you so much for your wisdom and patience. I hope to learn more and look forward to becoming more involved in my community thru the Secular Hub here. With me you have answered my questions and have found success. Your efforts have been worth while and as I walked out of Mr. Ra's speech today I actually found myself speaking with a young gal and sharing my new knowledge and strength. I found someone struggling with religion as I was. Actually she opened a conversation about what the event was about. I had a small bit of confusion. It was about evolution however it was also about God. You have done well by me Mr. Dilahunty and friends by providing me with the knowledge (key) to rest at ease with my thoughts and invited me into a community that I can trufully embrace with a strong conviction. I agree, except for the symbols. Any symbols would be pointers to a memory, such as a person that you can't really remember what they look like. And if you wake and remember some of it you might conclude that it really wasn't the person you thought you were dreaming of. Or you dream of being back at school and you were talking to someone on the stairs, and you wake up and remember your school didn't have stairs. May I just say - I'm so glad matt is now back in the swing , and with a revised bad ass attitude I might add. The atheist experience went through a bit of a slump ( other than whenever Jen and Tracy were on). But now I absolutely love watching it! I get tired of the mamby pamby nice-ness of us atheists always having to cater to the needs of theists and letting them get away with their obviously!! silly nonsense. Matt and even Tracy nowadays have to time for that anymore. That's great! With the advent of the internet, people have no excuses to be this ignorant anymore. In 2019 !!!

Mike: "see what you atheists don't seem to understand or appreciate is that there ISN't any evidence. There may never be. So it's extremely unreasonable of you to keep insisting we produce some. So you're lying."

1:27:10 Mike explains: "THAT's the thing! The theist would choose ignorance". After that, I felt compelled to choose to change my pants. But at least he chose truthfully.

The argument that God hasn’t updated the Bible in a long time almost converted me from Catholicism to Islam because it just makes so much sense that God would send an updated and specific version of his word in the Quran. And then I realized I had no reason to believe either book is true.

Good show. Steam rolling theists. Iceland guy was a poe.

My understanding of Poe's law is that one cannot tell if the person is serious. It seems obvious he was trolling theists.

Patrick Cunningham I think the Iceland guy did that on purpose I have a saying I say to theist as well .. I always tell them : Please stop putting my god down !! My god Thor is better than your god .. 2 reasons why !! It’s in my book and I had dream when I died and came back to life and he told me and showed me the way !!! I do believe he was making a point hoping they would see how stupid there shit beliefs are

I would pay a large amount of money to watch Matt destroy Christianity to my increasingly more religious (and Trump supporting) dad.
