The problem with this scenario is not everyone is particularly religious but see Christianity as a cultural identity and will default back to their cultural identity. Not believing in Christianity is one thing....but an attack on Christianity would be seen as a cultural attack...even atheist would side with Christianity if they believe their cultural identity is being attacked. America demographically shifting from a roughly 90% white nation in 1965 to one that’s now under 60% white today has its consequences and will have more later. In fact, by the current trend there will be no dominant culture in the United States by 2050 and by that point what will be holding us together? We won’t be centralized like the Romans or the Abbasids were, even though that didn’t save even those empires. We won’t have a decent unifying factor. America will not be a nation in any sense of the word other than that it will be a meaningless conglomeration of national borders.
