A late very good friend of mine was Catholic as far as church membership and also was a frequent world traveler. He most often did so without joining tour groups or using travel agents. He really knew his way around a lot of distant and remote, as well as some non remote locations in the 150 countries he visited in his life. While the crusades could be considered a political power play by the church against the Empires (primarily the Normans, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Northern Empires of Scandinavia), it wasn't until the Medici era (particularly the Popes on the dime of Cosimo D'Medici and later) that really began to display rampant corruption - in that time the Church became a business of proscriptions of non-Christians (primarily to take their land and money) as well as selling of indulgences (primarily to take the land and money of people with a guilty conscience who were worried they might not get into heaven); the Medicis made the Catholic Church into a business - this, in turn, led to the Protestant Reformation > which led to some really awful branches of Christianity such as the Puritans. Either way, Medieval church, not as bad as modern history books make it out to be, and the modern church - far worse.

You think Jesus would be okay with letting in sex and drug traffikers? I just read an article today about a man arrested who was once deported and snuck back over who had a 15 year old girl as his sex slave that he brought with him......I read about these cases weekly. Rather, Jesus said, "render unto Ceasers what is Ceasers" and so I think just based off that it's fair to say that he was suggesting to follow the law of the land. I don't think he was advocating for people to go to whatever country they wanted to without regard to that countries laws and to live off the hard work and taxes of the common citizens and steal their hard earned retirement and insurance. There are a lot of old people who barely get anything for retirement and dont have insurance that worked all of their lives and then we have illegal immigrants coming in making more every month on welfare than those of our own retired senior citizens and getting taken care of better than our own veterans, senior citizens and homeless/mentally ill population. How is that sustainable or kind to those who are here legally, who passed the test and waited in line to come here and to those who were born here and worked all of their lives here and payed into the system? What you guys are advocating is take from those who gave to give to those who come in illegally who haven't given and ignore the other Americans who don't have. Your just playing favorites to those who come here illegally and spitting on the American homeless, senior citizens and veterans/mentally ill.
