Mate how gorgeous does it look after a fresh cut. That pure green fresh kik growing thru and getting a trim looks so good. Looks awfully similar to lush buffalo when it gets a nice fresh trim!

@@rainey06au Looks like Brenton knows what he is doing and I'm wearing egg on my face. He should have titled the video "Destroys KZbin troll" for extra views lol. I was biased because army worms wiped out my whole glorious lawn. Acelepryn + Neem oil + Pyrethrin saved it in the end but the moths are still out in force every night. They are a nightmare. Great info on their feeding habits - it makes sense they leave the stem and roots until last, or just move onto another lawn.

I was waiting to see how it went. Looks amazing. I have about another 3 months growing here in Melbourne (I love our warm autumn) so going to aerate in a few weeks and level. Hoping I can make all my hard work during summer not turn to mud in winter lol. In terms of the grubs. Pesticides need to be used sparingly. Unless it is really bad leave them, the spray will hurt all the other animals helping the lawn (id encourage birds into the lawn, the old you don't have a snail problem, you have a duck deficiency problem).

I’d try some granular fert and a regular watering program. It is hard to advise on an unseen lawn but failing that then yeah you could top dress using some sort of top dressing mix

What do I do if I have kikuyu lawn with patches of pure couch. Kikyu has not invaded and taken over those patches after 3 years so needs some manual intervention. What do I do?

Not much unfortunately mate, There are no chemicals on the market to control couch grass from kikuyu .

Kyk gets a lot of hate because it’s invasive but man when it’s maintained it looks the goods! Annoying that it invades garden beds and stuff but least it fills in easy!

Na not on this occasion mate, there really wasn't a need based on the actual issue with the lawn and keeping things within a budget but still delivering a great result

Aeration of the compacted areas would have helped with water penetration, notice where the parts that needed more water are. Entry points high traffic areas. More compact mean less percolation

Not during winter, but you can really short if you really wanted to. I'm at 25mm but have seen lower.

Yeah absolutely you can go lower with it, Even under 10mm but like all larger leaf turf varieties its happier a little longer than that
