Usually the factory doesn't thread bolts into aluminum, they have steel inserts that are pressed into the aluminum caliper or bracket so it can be repeatedly used without wearing the threads. The factory Akebono caliper has steel inserts to thread into.
@TheAussieShed18 күн бұрын
True, the factory Calipers are cast alloy though, 6061T6 is a different animal. These threads are able to take repeated use. Pretty simple to put a stainless insert into them if needed also.

Good to hear from you Trevor, I was getting a little worried that the space time continuum had taken hold. Nice calipers, beautiful fit. Not gonna mention the new job as work is a four letter work. We will patiently wait for more content Cheers

On'ya Trev and a happy new year. Like the other commenters, worried you had a medical episode or something, but a work episode is a much better alternative. Take it easy. Cheers.

Hello Trev. Hope you had a good Chrissy mate. 👍 Nice to see you back again! Awesome job on the bracket. They looks very nice. How do we know that the Alian's didn't obduct you, violate you and erase your memory? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

What a terrific bracket. I have the other brackets and now i’m concerned about using them. Any chance you can make another set?
@TheAussieShedАй бұрын
G'day Mate, currently, unfortunately I don't have the time. Maybe some time in the future I will, but that could be quite a while away. I may look into getting a third party to CNC a run for me. I have also just finished the rears. They use a Porsche Boxter/Cayman, Radial mount 4 Piston Rear Caliper, on another one of my billet brackets. If there is a fair bit of interest I may look into a run of those also. Cheers Mate.

@ thank you for responding. Love the build

i agree with your point of view on the US adapters. will you be making and selling your own?
@TheAussieShedАй бұрын
G'day Mate. I'll see. I personally don't have the time, but depending on interest I may get a third party to do a CNC run of them. I feel I have a great solution for rear calipers too. Should be a vid out pretty soon on them. I'm not a fan of any of the current rear caliper solutions available. Cheers Mate.
@user-qs6qb2pu9yАй бұрын
@@TheAussieShed Im not a fan of the rear caliper either. The way the bracket positions the caliper seems odd. I'm sure others like me would also be very interested in a kit from you. Your work is top notch.

I did the 18z brembo up front too. Heavy but awesome stopping power on the track. Which pads you got there?

PS you should sell those front & rear brackets . Looking forward to seeing what's needed for the rears

Good to hear your voice mate. Whats the grade of aluminium for the bracket (if there is one)? Happy Christmas mate 👍
@TheAussieShedАй бұрын
Hi Ricky, great to hear from you too. 6061-T6 is what I have used, it is the minimum grade I would use for something like this. 7075-T6 is another alternative, but much more expensive. Merry Christmas Mate.
@justinsmith186729 күн бұрын
Awesome work mate. As a fellow Aussie 300ZX enthusiast, whats the man issue with the off the shelf 18z caliper brackets? I had some in my cart that I was going to get, but if I cant get them engineered then they arent worth much to me any more.
@TheAussieShed23 күн бұрын
Hi Justin, there are actually a few issues. Primarily putting the entire assembly together with nuts & bolts. Bolts into fixed threads are okay & nuts on fixed studs are also okay. Nut & bolt joints are notorious for coming loose, this is the reason OEM car manufacturers don't do it that way. Always look to OEM for acceptable standards. Cheers.
@justinsmith186721 күн бұрын
@@TheAussieShed Ah yes that make a lot of sense, especially for engineering/mod plates. I wasn't sure if they fouled on anything at full lock or other rubbish. Thanks for the reply, look forward to the next episode.
