Don't lose the ChipR yet. You executed those shots very well, but I think it was the wrong club each time. On the first hole, you just didn't have enough green to work with for a low bump and run type shot. On the last hole, you had a green that ran severely away from you. So you needed more loft / spin in both cases to help the ball stop. Like you, I play 1 of 2 shots around the greens, either my Ping ChipR for low running shots, or my 60. If I was in your spots I would have selected my 60. But I get it....the ChipR makes a siren call on every green cuz it is so easy, so fun to play! :)

Took my new Smartsole C to the Toptracer range last night - it is amazing. I was hitting straight and nicely lofted pitch shots at any distance i wanted to from 40 - 90 yds. I have yet to play a round with it - but it definitely has my attention. I've spent some time around the chipping green with it as well - and also out of a greenside bunker. Works great for both.

Second year golfer, had my 10 first birdies last season, 5 of them with the Chipr. Long ones on short rough around the green, trusted my line and rolled perfectly. I am also good with it within 50 yards, just need some practice to understand the speed roll. Love it.

I used to have the Chipping Yips, totally soul destroying which resulted in me giving up golf for the best part of 5 years, previously having played golf at a reasonable level for 25+ years. Earlier this year I found an old chipper at a boot sale for £5, bought it & decided to give it another crack & thanks to this special little stick i can now hit somewhat normal chips. Even given me confidence to open the face when i have to with a wedge. Been a revelation which has allowed me to return to a sport i truly love playing, even if i get stick for using a so called cheaters club 🤣

Lol at the title. Since I got the Chipr I’ve scored more birdies from the fringe with it than I have with my putter from on the green. Which maybe make sense statistically at my handicap as one still has more birdie opportunities from the fringe. Actually I would have used the Chipr on the second hole for sure, my putter on the steep downhill third hole, and the first hole probably not at all due to the steep lie angle of the Chipr not being right for the angle of the slope being away from you in that situation. Seeing it on camera made me want a wedge with a more proper lie angle to match the hill. But I’m Monday morning quarterbacking here for sure. 😊

Why ditch a perfectly good club that has worked so well in the past for you? It’s the Indian not the arrow, everyone has less than ideal days with a club in the bag just like a bag day with your own kids at times…. But you don’t ditch them LOL. The idea of the club is probably to avoid the bad chip, but if the club itself is creating a bad chip. Well, then, why not just hit ur lob wedge and deal with the outcome. Plus you get an additional club in ur bag to add that could potentially help lower ur scores.

The ChipR is a crutch for a good golfer, in time your short game will deteriorate. 90% of shots around the green require spin to control the outcome. Chippers are for people that golf 5 times a year and just want to get around.
