I suggest Hog's Back, and there's a whole bunch of nature trails to walk along. We've hit three of the nature trails in the last month. There's Dow's Lake, Vincent Massey Park, the Experimental Farm, there's the Rideau Museum, and down at the locks there, you can also get a boat tour of the Ottawa River, and there's also the boat tour of the Rideau Canal which you can get across from the Rideau Mall. The Experimental Farm has lovely gardens and paths around it, Carleton University has the butterfly house. The Glebe has many interesting shops and stores and the RCMP's Parade is done over in Vanier.

Ottawa really is a museum lover's paradise. I never realized how stunning Canada's Parliament buildings are. I would love too see the inside too someday. Major's Hill park looked like a great place to relax or go for a jog while taking in some beautiful scenery. Great video that definitely makes us want to pay Ottawa a visit someday.

Normally I would not give a thumbs down for a clip like this, but this time I got to tell you I don’t think any of the poster on KZbin did Ottawa any justice at all. I was so depressed after watching all the videos on “what to do in Ottawa” that I was dreading going, but I went anyway, WHAT A SURPRISE this city is just full of things to do, places to shop, great restaurants, tours and more, even if you’re a person looking to party (not me) there’s plenty going on. I highly recommend you add Ottawa Quebec Canada 🇨🇦 to your list of “things to do in Canada”

Parliament Hill looks amazing, some great buildings around the square, and some good views over the rivers and city. The Rideau Canal is beautiful as well, but I won't walk the full 200km though... My family lived in Ottawa for 3-1/2 years, my father worked at the US Embassy which at the time was located directly across from the parliament building. I got off school one day to meet him at work so we could both take the bus home. A businessman left his briefcase next to the centennial flame and the bomb squad was called in to remove it. How To Seem Like A Local In Ottawa If you are visiting a city, you don't want to walk around looking like some tourist. You want to blend in, right? Well, here are some tips on how to blend and seem like a local, when visiting the Ottawa. - Smoke. Tobacco, mostly, but what you smoke is less important than the act of smoking. Make sure to do it on bus platforms and as close to doorways and "No Smoking 9 Meters" signs as possible. Those signs are just there for laughs. Smoking bylaws are not enforced in Ottawa at all. Tucking a smoke behind your ear for later will also let people know that you smoke, even if you are smoking right now, and bringing a snuffed-out half cigarette on the bus in your pocket is perfectly acceptable. - Meander. In most cities, people kind of stay to the right to let pedestrian traffic flow smoothly. Not in Ottawa. The sidewalks are wide, so you need to explore them. Walk slower than other people, stop often for no reason, and drift back and forth, left and right, as you go, looking at your phone the whole time. - Stop short. When walking through a mall or on the sidewalk, just stop dead for no reason so other people can crash into your back. It is a great way to meet new people. - If you are carrying a closed umbrella make sure to carry it like a spear at your side and swing your arm a lot as you walk. If you have one of those little collapsable umbrellas, swing it around like an old-timey police baton. - When getting off of a bus, escalator, or elevator, make sure to stop short for no reason about 2 steps later. - Dress like a cop. Ottawa has more uniforms per square mile than any other city in Canada, so the best way to blend is to simply dress like a cop. The media and city councillors will line up to fawn over you and offer you pay raises and less accountability than you thought possible in a modern society. - The most popular Ottawa fashion accessory is pet hair on clothing. If your sweater, hoodie, or wool coat is not completely covered in cat or dog hair, you'll be spotted right away as a visitor. - Use no deodorant at all... OR... douse yourself in so much fragrance that dogs across the street begin to whine. There is no middle ground in Ottawa. - Whistle tunelessly in public. As loudly and as frequently as possible. Especially if there is a good song playing on the PA in a store. - Give the Stink Eye. Especially to young people with tattoos, multi-coloured hair, and lots of piercings. Anyone who looks different from the models in the Mark's catalogue, basically. - When driving, pretend you have no idea where you are because it is your first time driving in an urban environment. - Pretty much anything you do with a car is legal in Ottawa, as long as you put on your four-way lights. Need to park in the middle of an intersection? Or on a sidewalk? Just hit the four-ways and yer good t’ go, Bud. - Be racist. Not overtly, but, you know.... - Have an affair. - Use cocaine. - Pretend Ottawa is a lot more interesting than it really is.
