Just to clear things up for people...the amazon listing states that this guitar has ball end stainless steel frets. Ordered one earlier today as it looks killer and you can't beat the price. Love the purple flame, reverse headstock and zebra pickups. sThanks for getting this thing built Richard!

well, now they've changed the listing on amazon. It now says "The hand-polished copper ball-end frets ensure smooth and comfortable performance" so not stainless steel. Not a big deal for me but just putting it out there.

@@nolerx I brought the error to the attention of the company. They confirmed that the frets are not stainless steel and corrected the listing. It was an honest mistake. However... they are in the process of testing out jumbo stainless steel frets for the next iteration of this guitar!

Hey BS! Been watching your videos for awhile and I saw this one the day you posted it. So, I ordered 2 Monsoons and they arrived an hour ago. That was enough time to give them a quick evaluation. Here's my opinion: 1) Flamed tops are barely noticeable. You must have gotten a good one (helps to be a KZbin star and yes, you are). 2) Finish work is substandard. I can see brush strokes under the finish and cloudy areas. Not good! 3) Pickups sound pretty good. I measured 7.96k at the neck and 15.70k at the bridge. They are well-matched and almost EVH-like. Big thumbs up! However, the pickups were very wobbly. I'll need to add some foam blocks. 4) Frets - Ball ends are good! However, fret crowns are scratchy and will need polishing. 5) Neck profile and fretboard radius are comfortable. However, neck wood is lower grade flat sawn which can be unstable. I hope it has a 2-way truss rod! Too bad they don't post detailed specs. Quarter sawn maple would be a big improvement! 6) Setup was ok. Intonation was off but string height and neck relief are good! 7) The Leo Jaymz logo SUCKS! And, it's crooked! Looks like a Word font from 1985. I'd rather have no logo at all! They should definitely rethink that horrible logo! Looks cheap. One last thing - I wonder why they tuned the guitar so high? It was like super-high. Did they legalize weed in China???

This is a very nice guitar and I bought it! I think there is one minor thing missing...locking tuners. But, Guyker locking tuners are really not expensive, so if the tuners are slipping, I will change them out. It is definitely not a reason to skip this build. I am very glad you skipped the Floyd Rose. Hard tail FTW! The riffs you played are awesome and I am very happy that this guitar finally made it to Amazon! Keep on shredding, my friend!

The Gotoh SG381-MGTB-R6-B-MPM-07 lefty locking tuners ended up working great on mine. The guitar plays and sounds fantastic with a new set of 9's on it.

I got my monsoon today and it's way greater than I would have expected, and it looks better than I thought it would have, it already came innotanted and without any sharp frets or fret buzz on any fret, and the neck felt really comfortable and also looked nice, I also got the boya and ziqi headless guitar and this felt a lot better to me than that, hopefully they can keep the quality the same as mines on the other guitars they sell, if they would I think this would be the best beginner guitar you could buy and it would keep the beginner guitarist occupied with zero complaints for a while, I would suggest you put some cheap locking tuners maybe some guyker locking tuners and it doesn't come with the bag the tempest comes which I kinda wish it would come with but it would probably have to cost a bit more to come with it

I’m ok without stainless steel frets if the guitar comes with good pickups. Most of my playing life, I was stuck with cheaper guitars. Still great to learn on, but my higher end was Mexican strats or classic vibe tele by Squier. They were great but when I finally got a “real” guitar that had genuine good pickups, like Duncan 59, Pearly Gates in those crazy Fender Special telecasters that you can get for like 500 right now…real pickups made the biggest difference in my playing. The tones and nuances and response was like night and day. Sustain and harmonics all of sudden became huge factors in my solos. At that point these Harley Benton’s and AIO and all these other guitars seemed like 2nd rate to me bc of the sound/electronics. That’s why Harley Benton’s “higher end” guitars, the Armok which is neck thru, stainless steel frets, has EMG pickups, same for the EMG fusion…which idk how they make a profit since most cheap guitar brands save money on pickups/electronics. But those guitars for the $ are incredible. Same for the higher level Yamaha Pacifica that comes with Seymour Duncan’s, it’s a diff ballgame with those elements. Also, the Chapman ML PRO hybrid has a Duncan pearly gates humbucker and two Duncan strat single coil pickups and to my surprise this guitar made the cheap Fender mustang amp I was using at the store sound like a professional rig of a tube marshal or something. You’d play a note and hold it with some vibrato and part of the note would decay into a bell/chime like harmonic I don’t know how to describe it. Pickups are what make your sound and determine what your amp does.

I just ordered this guitar, but wanted to know what mods do you recommend to improve tuning stability? Such as Sperzel locking tuners, graph tech nut, Hipshot 6-String US Fixed bridge. Thanks for yr help!

The only thing I did to mine was put on a new set of strings and stretched them every day for a couple of weeks. After that it stays in pretty good tune. Locking tuners and graph tech nut may help, but I don't see how a different bridge would make a difference.

It's interesting. After I bought the blue model, and love it, I decided to get one of the black ones. Surprisingly, it's a little different. The hardware on the black one is definitely better quality and the neck is a little fatter. Not a big deal. Sounds and plays great.

I don’t know if I’m in the minority here but I’m a 6’1 dude with kinda big hands and I feel extremely cramped with the super extra jumbo frets, I much prefer small but tall frets🤷‍♂️ it never causes any problems with me when bending on the 24th feet from E to F# or anything like that with smaller frets

It's supposed to be 9s, but it could be 10s. You never know with these. Either way, the factory strings will be super cheap so you should change them right away to something better. I put Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9-42 on mine. And thanks for getting it!

wow- really cool, Richard! How are the electronics - does it have those tiny pots and plug in wiring harness? Is the cavity copper shielded? It looks like a great option for a beginner or even an intermediate player. I saw that it only comes in purple/pink burst - are there plans for other color combinations (like a sparkle black or maybe a transparent red)? One final thought - if Leo Jaymz, IYV, or some other offshore guitar company can do a 1980s LA hair metal Charvel-style super strat shredder for cheap, it's over. Oil finished maple neck, reverse strat-style headstock, locking Floyd trem, hum/single coil, ex jumbo frets, black hardware... they'd make a killing. Again - congrats on your signature Bald Shredder model Leo Jaymz!

I don't think they do one-off custom orders. However, I'd love for them to do something like that as a production guitar. I plan to talk to Leo about it. We'll see.

I never use the tone knob. I also never use coil splitting. You could easily add both of those to this guitar if you got it.

Great jam and super looking and sounding guitar , my only question is how this is $100 cheaper than the deluxe Tempest which I just watched Shawn on Scarred demo and it had horribly microphonic pickups and cheap tuners. This sounds way better IMO! Might have to pick this up in the future , i think Santa wife bought me a guitar for Christmas , there's a very big box near the tree 😂 PS Merry Christmas brother 🎄
