I'm an American Army veteran that served in Iraq and now currently serving as a police officer. Through my years of service in both the military and law enforcement I have had my doubts if what I'm doing is still worthwhile or if people actually care anymore. Songs like, "I Vow To Thee My Country" remind me of why I really continue to serve. From your friends across the pond, thank you and God bless.
@garrettelliott25654 жыл бұрын
It's not the most hated, I get far more people thanking me for my service than those that say something hateful. It's at least 10:1 so I still feel the mass majority support law enforcement. Law enforcement in the United States is also not something you can really put under an umbrella as one entity. Don't fall for the media's trap, they're full of lies and only want to divide us to keep their ratings higher. Between state police/troopers, municipal police, metropolitan police, county sheriffs, constables and other sworn peace officer agencies each has it's differences especially in standards.

Garrett, It does matter, and your service in Iraq matters. Your service as a police officer matters too. The love of Jesus Christ brings truth and salvation into the life of a believer. I am a proud American and veteran of the United States Army While I do admit that I love the patriotic songs of my country, I am so JEALOUS that you have such a beautiful song as one of your patriotic songs. It's so beautiful with simple lyrics of love of country and God. I had the pleasure of meeting some British Army soldiers who were members of a British Army signal unit while I was stationed in West Germany. They were the sister unit of my battalion and I would have been proud to fight along side them had it came to war. God bless the British people and God save the queen from an American comrade-in-arms.
@mikeorgan19932 жыл бұрын
Sorry George at no point in that patriotic song is there any mention of God and for me I am offended you try to make out there is. We are not a religious nation with less than 46% believing in any God and falling fast (It is estimated that by 2050 as few as 20% will have any religion whatsoever) and I just wish I will live long enough to see that day come. Then we can treat all religions as the cults they are. Like many of my fellows we look at the USA in shock at what religion has done to your country and want no part of it. One day you will follow us, until then you're a broken nation with false and terrible beliefs; God and Guns and damn the poor and sick. In the meantime bother us not with your delusion we have no use for such nonsense.

@@WorldOfKnowledgeTH There are many versions of Holst's Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from the Planet Suite one of the most famous is of course "The World in Union" which is the theme song for the Rugby Union World Cup. I was not that interested in classical music until I heard Manfred Mann's Earth band - Joybringer in 1973, I was interested when I found out it was an adaptation of the same movement as above and so went out and bought a copy of the original Suite by The London Symphony Orchestra and from that moment my love of classical music began. I was young at that time and today I just regret that I haven't asked them more about their experiences when I could still do so ,, but rest assured we had ALWAYS treated them with the highest respect.. from the station attendant to the Captain of the aircraft included .. God Bless he warriors and the sacrifices they make for our countries. We owe them much. Thank you all. "We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." So take a second to say: "Thank you for your service to our nation" as they pass by once in a while. They don't expect it, but they certainly deserve it. Remember as Patrick Henry said in Common Sense: "What we obtain too cheaply, we esteem too lightly." They pay a high price for the Freedom we enjoy

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice And there's another country, I've heard of long ago Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace
