I could actually see one of Bruce Wayne's researchers coming up with something that allows a person to access other dimensions, and, although just in it's infancy, promises unlimited storage space, and, allows a person or we vehicle, to warp between points in a city, or, on a planet. Main limitation, energy hungry, so, you'd probably be limited as to how many leaps you could make on a full charge, and, how much distance you could cover, amongst other things.

In my opinion the essential equipment should be stored and integrated into the suit itself: grapnel guns, smoke pellets and batarang launchers integrated into the gauntlets, communication equipment breathing equipment and cameras, night vision and infrared vision integrated into the cowl etc. So that every item is literally already at hand and able to be instantly deployed. The belt should mainly provide empty storage space for things found on the field.

Counterpoint: His gear is optimized for being carried in the belt while also taking up the minimum amount of space. Things found in the field would increase the weight and bulk of the belt possibly impeding his mobility. As for a Batarang launcher I wonder if that would be too KnightQuest for him? Jean Paul Valley in his Batsuit integrated a Bat-Shuriken launcher that was strictly for cutting people to pieces. Also a Batarang launcher would lose a lot of the finesse and fine control he has when throwing them, such as arc/hook throws and his fine muscle control over the force applied. That said, Batarang storage in the gauntlet would be a fine addition.

I have a theory that Batman learned magic tricks during his time learning to become Batman. He learned the most basic spell that allows for small areas to be expanded beyond their normal volume, basically giving small pouches the capacity of backpacks. Although Batman himself is a most outstanding hand-to-hand combatant, the belt is definitely a difference maker in certain situations, whether dealing with multiple attackers or multiple crises in different planets. It's even helped out the Justice League a few times. A definite must have!

One thing that used to get me on the Batman live action series, was, when Batman would pull from out of his Utility Belt, a bullet proof shield, big enough for him AND Robin to hide behind! The show was lots of fun, but, THAT was(almost)too much for even ME! AND, I was a KID at the time! However, it did teach me NOT to take EVERYTHING too seriously, and, to enjoy a laugh whenever possible, so, it wasn't a bad thing, at all!

When I was a kid in the early 90's, I remember in the original Batman cartoon, back in the 60's, where the Catwoman of that particular animated show me that quote saying "He carries a hardware store in that belt of his." As far as the tools that he carries in his belt I definitely like the grappling gun as well as the batarangs are the key principle, along with the other tools that he used during the Arkhamverse games.

I liked this video, and, I found your tale on Batman's Utility Belt, informative and entertaining! As you mentioned, although there are some things that are USUALLY going to be in the belt, there's going to be times when a specific mission may need specific tools/materials, to accomplish a mission's objective, like, as you mentioned, Kryptonite! You also asked if Batman, without the belt.would STILL be Batman, to which I answer with an unequivocable YES! I refer you to Batman: Year One, in which a Batman, still new to his mission, is chased into a three-story building, which is firebombed WHILE he's still in it! Not only does he survive the bombing, he manages to take out a fully armed SWAT team with automatic weapons, WITHOUT. his Utility Belt, having lost it in the ensuing fire from the previous bombing! I would say that Batman, without his Utility Belt is just as dangerous, if not moreso, due to the fact that without it, he has to get VERY down and dirty, ESPECIALLY when confronted with stronger or more numerous opponents!

Batsy has enough strength and smarts to cope with just about anybody, but sometimes these may not be enough. The utility belt and its contents come in handy, especially since The Rogues Gallery doesn't always play fair. The utility belt perfectly compliments Batman's more "natural" talents and abilities and is a big help in his fight against crime.

I think that applies to many "non-lethal" weapons. If you use them the right (or wrong) way, you can kill someone with it. Non-fragmenting explosives? Stick them directly to someones head. Foam rounds? At short range they can inflict lethal brain trauma. Electric shock weapons? Long enough at the right spot (or just right person) and dead. I mean especially Batarangs can be used in a bazillion ways. BUT it goes the other way around too. With sufficient skill and luck, a gun too can be used non lethal (just hit somewhere painful, but non-life threatening). That's one of the things I like in the BvS warehouse fight. In the scenes where he stabs a guy and shoots the grapple through another he clearly pierces only their shoulder, one of the less risky spots (the thrown box and exploding flamethrower are a different story..). It shows that even potentially fatal attacks can be used in a non-lethal fashion.

Batman could always carry all his larger/heavier stuff in the batmobile constantly, and then anticipating what he requires on his current mission he would properly equip himself before hopping out of his car. Just a thought. The only thing that bugs me, is where is his grappling gun? It would have to be in a holster-sized pouch on his back or side, but you never see it...🤔 Unless it's in two pieces that are quickly and easily attached together for use. Other than that I really don't think it's too far-fetched for a genius like Batman to cram all that miniature stuff in his belt. Collapsible, foldable batarangs and such. If you really put your mind to it, you could fit a hell of a lot into a belt like that.

Also, possibly some of the specialized variants of the suit that he has used in the comics. For example, during the “Knightfall” storyline, when he went after Firefly, he wore the flameproof version. But, let’s *try* to steer clear of suits like the black and silver one from “Batman & Robin”. Only the ones that are more legitimate.

Absolutely love the Batman character but have issues with his utility belt 1 how can batman gain entry to his tools if it's only his finger prints can gain access to it if he's wearing gloves? 2 There is only so much room on his belt to place compartments. 3 How many times can he deploy his grapple on a co2 cartridge. 3 (he can have multiple cartridges) goes back to limited room on belt, with all the fighting he does wearing the belt with all it's compartments and the amount of rolling around he does isn't conducive to your health (from experience I cracked a rib when I landed on my side wearing webbing landed on magazines in pouch) I know I'm only nick picking and yes when it comes to comic book hero's you have to suspend any form of reality

But to suggest all of the things listed here, many of which could only be miniaturized so far, would make for one heavy ass, bulky belt. You can only suspend disbelief so much. I do gives props to the Dark Knight Trilogy for making the belt more subdued 'cause nothing says "stealth" better than walking around with a 4"-6" wide YELLOW belt! 😆
