I was born in Galveston, have lived in Texas City my whole life, and fished Galveston Bay area my whole life. I am also the jump pilot at Skydive Galveston, and seen the waters in this area from the air for years. I have never seen the water this clear... I keep thinking how awesome it would be if the currents stayed this way and the water stayed this clear. Main problem is the currents pushing the Mississippi River outflow, and other large rivers' outflow, to the west. At least from my understanding of it. That is why Corpus and SPI have such clear waters

Gotta question for ya: Do you know whether the fish is safe to eat yet down there? I'm plannin to make a huge move down to Galveston hopefully a year from now or so if I play cards right & I love seafood as well as fishin upon the surf.
@tommy35ss Жыл бұрын
@TheHumanConversationalist Oh yeah it is definitely safe to eat! I have eaten it all my life. I would say fish the waters that are not so industrial and don't fish any ponds or lagoons near refineries, those can be bad. You can research fishing Galveston Bay or surf fishing Galveston to learn more about it I am surd.

Every year, at least as far as I've seen it { 45 +_ years } the water goes from muddy to murky green to green to clear green, right around mid-May, and lasts for about 3-5 days depending on weather. The longer it stays clear though, the water heats up and if no wind the water becomes almost stagnant and the fish disappear. But the action between green and clear green is top notch; ling can be caught off the beachfront! Ling is one of the top 3 fish created. If you've never tried it you're missing out.
@BeachBomberFishing4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info! I have always noticed that the first few days are the best, after that, it slows done big time. My goal is to eventually catch a ling from either the surf or the jetty.
