FSO Polonez agrees, but TOP GEAR spoke badly of it. It is a durable car if it is cared for. Many of them still drive around Poland, this model from the movie as well as newer ones, and the cars are doing great. The white car is a Fiat 125p, an Italian construction, unfortunately already extinct.
@philipmcdonagh10943 жыл бұрын
There both FSO's, the blue one is 1989 1600cc, the silver one is 1986 1300cc. They have been off the road since 1992, which would explain the tree growing up through it. Shame to mention you had an RS2000 in the same comment as an FSO. But the RS2000, now that was a car. Great find thanks.

First two cars were the FSO Polonez as you said and the other is a FSO 125p but is actually based on a FIAT iirc. I was lucky enough to see them at a Motor Show at Belle Vue,Manchester in the late 70’s. Sadly my photos are long gone now but I bet my mum still has all the car brochures I used to collect over a seven year period
@alasdairvincent62483 жыл бұрын
The FSO Polonez was one of the cheap Eastern Bloc cars of the day. My neighbour used to run one as a taxi. Lada was another example of that class of car. Double the value, fill it with petrol! It always saddens me to see houses like this crammed with contents and left to decay. The story of someone’s past life is in there. It’s sad that it has been trashed like that.A fantastic location guys, loved your explore.
@patm86223 жыл бұрын
Fascinating, explore. Agree 100% on the sadness of these lives which are being forgotten...Wedding photos at 16mins show RAF groom & best man (?), without a closer look can't be sure if ground or aircrew. There also appears to be a group photo near to them,potentially of a class from a training/induction course.@ 20.45 is a tea making machine/alarm clock! The TV's at 24 40 are way older than the space programme!

The FSO Polonez is a motor vehicle that was developed in Poland in collaboration with Fiat and produced by Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych from 1978 to 2002. It was based on the Polski Fiat 125p platform with a new hatchback design by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Predecessor: FSO Polonez Caro

Yes, I worked at a Garage that had franchise to sell and service FSO’s in the eighties. They also did a 125P saloon and a pickup truck based on the saloon. The build quality from factory was terrible, only they were very cheap. They are extremely rare now, as most have rusted away.
@cruizzer773 жыл бұрын
In the room with the books there was some test equipment left (around 19:35), looks probably like a signal generator and the other two could be scopes. These and the large amount of TV sets lead me to believe that somebody there was into repairing electronic equipment. The piano is probably the most interesting find in this house, this isn't just an ordinary piano but a pianola which means that it is a piano that can play on it's own. It would be programmed with compositions registered on paper rolls through a door right behind the photo. The device at 20:47 is a Teasmade tea cooker and alarm clock. Now it almost looks like the house had been used as a dump, maybe for some reason the stuff that used to be in the empty shed was taken into the house, who knows.

The FSO Polonez. I haven't seen one since the 1990s. Jeremy Clarkson drove one on his DVD Apocolypse Clarkson. And he played conkers with it. So much fascinating stuff in this video. I bet if the walls could talk there would be some fascinating stories told

FSO Polonez (restyling model), Fiat 125 mechanic with different body and Polski Fiat 125 P (carosery Fiat 125 Special, mechanic one generation older Fiat 1500) - both cars were made in Poland in communist times. In essence all of them - Ladas, Polonez, Polski Fiat is Fiat 124/125. A lot of them in my country in the 80s .
@timmorodgers42713 жыл бұрын
Years ago I did banger racing, FSO's were popular cars due to their strength, they seemed to fail the MOT drastically at quite an early age and ended up in scrapyards or in the hands of racers. I think corrosion, scarcity of some parts and very low values condemned many to an early demise, it wasn't unheard of to see an FSO on the banger track after failing it's first or second MOT!

Another wonderful exploration gents. So sad to see the photographs, forgotten and left to rot and ruin. A while ago, helped do a clean out of a rental house and came across several photo albums. Tried my best to locate the people to no avail. So sad there were baby pics, weddings, parties, Christmas, etc just left. Nobody knows the history of these people and forgotten, just saddens me. Be safe, Cheers 👊👍

I worked for an FSO franchised garage in the eighties. Hundreds of those Polonez went through the workshop to new owners. The build quality from factory was not great, although they were very cheap cars at the time. Recently did some searching to see if any are still around on UK roads. It seems almost all have rusted away. As well as the Polonez, they also had a 125P saloon and a Pickup truck based on the 125P. All were based on old technology but were very rugged vehicles.

I've drove an FSO Polonez, wasn't memorable. The white one looks like the 125p. They are D 86/7 and F 88/9 and considering by 7 or 8yrs old the FSO Cars were dead (they were awful Mechanically and for Rust) I reckon mid 90s they've been there since. The FSO Polonez Fan Club has 23500 subscribers so they must be still popular in their own back yard Poland. Great Video!
