Tailgating doesn't just happen at football games, it also happens at many concerts, music festivals, and other activities. I went to an outdoor blues festival in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. People were going back and fourth between watching the concert to walking back into the parkinglot to party/tailgate and listen to the concert from the parking lot. Many people never went in, they just enjoy tailgating.

It always amazes me how surprised people from other countries, especially Europe, are about how welcoming and warm-hearted Americans are as a whole to strangers. It makes me wonder how foreign media/press portrays us. I can understand that if they are from an adversarial country but not a friendly one.
@JJVPYOU
@JJVPYOU 10 күн бұрын
Is not how the foreign media portraits us, is more that the act of being friendly, starting conversations, and being welcomed into the group by total strangers is not the way most Europeans act. That comment is almost universal among Europeans that come to the States. Chit chating and starting conversations with total strangers is not something Europeans do.

Very true. I've been to various countries in Europe over the years and the only time I really made any friends there was when I lived in Germany for 3 years, and it still took a while with them. Interesting though, I went to Russia a while back and made immediate friends with a gang of people that were very accommodating. It's really interesting to travel and experience all kinds of different cultures.

@@JJVPYOU That's a very good point and very true. However, I have been in other countries as well and seen the media and even news outlets really exaggerate American stereotypes. Sometimes it's done with no harm intended and then a few definitely had an agenda. Fortunately, things like KZbin can do a lot of good to dispel those myths from all countries. 😃I love learning and there are some great creators out there that do a wonderful job bridging people together. Sadly, our own media sometimes does a horrible job of perpetuating stereotypes. Have a great weekend!

If you're using Solo cups, an especially helpful thing to note is that the indentations on the side of the cup have meanings as measurements. The bottom-most is a shot. The middle is a standard wineglass and the upper is a pint of beer.

I threw a thanksgiving in cheltenham england at my then boyfriends house. I had to ship some stuff and I cooked for 3 days and I think we had about a dozen people. 1st they expected me to have some kind of “meltdown” lol. I then was questioned about what we did on thanksgiving and I told them we had house parties with food and either games after or a walk outside and then kept asking me about gifts. They were so surprised that we didn’t exchange gifts and I told them it wasn’t about that. It was just one day a year that we gathered with family and friends and were thankful. At the end they were talking amongst themselves that. They should have Thanksgiving. Pretty interesting.

My favorite tailgate places: college games, especially colleges from the SEC (Southeast Conference) and Big Ten, with full props going to the Big 12. Thanksgiving in the US is always the fourth Thursday of November. Here in Georgia you can still have nice warm days, usually 18-25 C, but in much of the country it can be very cold, even snowy.

Tailgating is an excuse for a football game. You MUST go to a college football game; best food will be at an SEC game. My last tailgate party was at the GA-FL game, also known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Ole Miss is also renowned for its tailgating.
@jamesrawlins735
@jamesrawlins735 10 күн бұрын
I think Ole Miss is one of the two best tailgating experiences in College Football (the other is Notre Dame - but I do agree the food is better at Oxford.) I used to think Lambeau Field was the best tailgating in America, but a few years ago I went to Atlanta and they really know how to cater to tailgaters - you can even get tents, tvs and even catering services to boost the experience.

You do your tailgate to fill up on food and booze in the parking lot before you go into the stadium and have to pay $10-15 per beer/hot dog. You're sober by the time the game is over. Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City is iconic for the tailgating, the Chiefs are the current league Champions and the stadium is a top tier experience for seeing a game. Holds the Guinness Book World Record for the Loudest Outdoor Stadium in the world at 142.2 Decibels of crowd noise. Chiefs Kingdom would be happy to have you ♥️💛

Tailgating is taken very seriously here. My buddy is a big Angels fan, and he's stake out a spot under the Big A sign with his 40' RV. Food wise it usually shredded BBQ beef brisket (for sandwiches), fried chicken, cheesy potatos, potato salad, macaroni salad, salad, apple pie and some other desserts. It's easier to either make the food ahead of time or have it made for us, haul it in the RV and heated up out there. We used to BBQ put it takes longer, and inevitably the cook would get drunk and the food would get burned.

I'm definitely biased here but in the pro ranks, the tailgating experience in Buffalo is well known for being out of this world. Which makes it so annoying that it was raining just hard enough before the game I went to that my cousin (a longtime Buffalo resident) didn't want to partake in the festivities, and come to think of it, I couldn't blame her. In a scale you'd be most familiar with the temperature was between 0 and 1 Celsius before the game; when it dropped below freezing and the rain turned into snow it was a marked improvement. I mean I loved it but your mileage may vary.

If from and live in Kansas City, Missouri, so I'm a little biased, but my opinion, Arrowhead, where the Chiefs play, is by far the best stadium for tailgating. Admittedly, I've only been to Candlestick when the 49ers still played there and the Oakland Colliseum, so I don't have much to compare it to. Here's just a few reasons to come to Kansas City: Our barbeque is amazing, every game sells out, Arrowhead is the loudest outdoor stadium in the world, the Chiefs have been in to 6 straight AFC Championship games, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and yes Taylor Swift comes to pretty much every home game. Plus, Whiteman AFB is about 40 minutes away, and that's where the B-2 bombers are based so you might see a flyover by the stealth bomber. I have 4 season tickets on the Chiefs side wround the 30 yardline halfway between the field and Travis Kelce's suite. You guys are welcome to use my tickets if you want to go to a game. James and Millie will never read this, so I won't have to worry about missing a game.

You don't need to experience tailgating in America personally, all it takes is viewing videos like this or talking to people who have experienced it, to recreate the same thing in your own country. You need to be the agent of change to start the ball rolling. Quit living vicariously through us (America), learn the lessons and implement them yourselves. Nothing is holding you back but yourselves.

hi, i"m from texas and i thought i"d tell you how tailgate parties started and what they were originally intended to be , as you well know foods and drinks are pretty expensive in the stadium , so some intelligent people thought they would just bring their own foods and drinks , since you cannot go inside with them , they would get to the game in plenty of time to eat and drink in the parking lot before going in, Americans being ever resourceful started bringing their own b-b-que grills to make a "meal" and party of it before going in , others saw and started doing it too, soon we have complete strangers with nothing more in common than the love of the game stopping and chatting and being invited to a meal or a beer , wah la --tailgate parties were born, now they've become a lil" bit commercialized and that saddens me a lot , gone is the spontaneity of making friends out of complete strangers and jus sharing a beer and whatever for the love of the game and meeting others who share your passion , and nothing to do with profit .

The best thing about tailgating is that every team/area has their own unique foods/traditions. For instance, in Buffalo you have the insane Bills Mafia who will jump through tables that were set on fire (seriously). And then in places like KC, Texas, etc you can get some great BBQ. Come to a Giants or Jets game and be prepared to try different types of lasagnas and other Italian food. Each place has something unique, but something everyone has in common is getting absolutely plastered before you even get into the Stadium haha.

Tailgating is great. If I had to choose just one, I'd say college football. It happens at most colleges, but is even bigger during rivalry games. I'm from Texas, so I favor the south, but I'm also more familiar with the foods, people and general environment. Some the SEC is very well known for tailgating. Generally, it is pretty similar, and is a big community party. The main differences is going to be some foods (depending on regions), certain traditions (based on the schools and games), and probably the weather. It gets colder, faster in the north and east of the country. Pro football games also have a great environment, and Dallas and Detroit always host Thanksgiving games, and they do actually serve traditional Thanksgiving food. NASCAR is also well known for its tailgating environment. I have never been to a NASCAR tailgate, so I can only speak based on reputation and people I've known that have attended. I have briefly attended a Dallas Cowboys (pro team) tailgate, but didn't get to stay long because of an unexpected emergency that occurred with the group I was with. You'll find almost everyone passionate about their team (so it gets loud and rowdy, but in a good way), you'll find generosity and kindness and friendliness of American people, and they'll be curious about your country and your experiences, and you'll find it almost like a semi-carnival experience, where you walk around and see different groups, with different foods, games, etc. It is something most of us do any chance we get. It makes the actual sporting event even bigger and more immersive.

You should come to Lubbock Texas and experience tailgating before a college game. 😊

While this kind of Thanksgiving is great fun, the spirit of the day is a more family oriented day of being thankful for what we have. Then eating way too much, arguing with idiot relatives, and watching football on TV with your pants unbuttoned, trying not to pass out.

Yes, that was corn hole. I have been tailgating with my friends since I was in college 40 years ago. To me the game is secondary to the tailgating party.

Actually everyone’s menu is different and often it depends on who is playing who. One person actually creates a menu based on smashing two signature foods together into a new dish. It pokes fun at the opponent in a good way. Tailgating is tradition at every college and professional team. You set up with a few tvs to watch the game, coolers of cold drinks and lots of food that will be shared around. People often park RVs because it’s easier to cook and store things when everything is done. New York City it’s not exactly illegal more like it frowned upon as space is a major factor.

Wish you could visit next month for the Ohio State-Michigan game in Ohio. It is one of the most famous rivalry games in college football. Then again, I would have to try and score some tickets, so that may be nearly impossible without spending a fortune lol. If and when you do try to experience it, we have a spare bedroom for you to use to save $$$ on a hotel.♥

Don’t care for her commentary. Not Millie but the lady on the original video. I can’t ever figure out if she likes America or not.

It's good to see her have a good time. I've watched a few of her videos and usually she's really confused about the reasons things are as they are in the US. Then she takes it in a negative light because things are different and confusing her. I've always thought she needed more time with Americans and she would get the meaning behind differences then she'd be able to relax and enjoy with the stress of her confusion finally removed.

Despite what this video shows, not all Americans feel a need to pray in public to tell God, “Thank you for blessing me with alcohol and money and success and sports!” Some of us just go out to eat, and some of us just drink. Some of us are successful and some of us maybe not so much. But none of the above always involves prayer in public. Not all Americans think it is impressive to pray in public.
