I couldn't have said it better myself! @@modocchic They had it the worst. It was so sad that the general public took their disapproval toward the war out on the soldiers that were just serving their country. After all the shit they went through in war just to come home and be treated like shit and struggle more then the average person was just not right. That generation should be ashamed for how they treated those veterans. Veterans have it a lot better now but still not as they should.

I've lost a cousin and one of my best friends to injuries inflicted during the war. My buddy was hit by an RPG 7 that detonated on his 240 B, my cousin was poisoned by mustard gas during the hunt for saddam - his squad cleared a bunker full of barrels of leaking mustard without realizing what the liquid was. War looks like it's thousands of miles away when we see it on the TV - but it never is for those who survived it. May those who died rest in peace, may those who survived find peace.

That is the problem though isn't it. The ones that survive it are the walking dead. VERY few are okay. VERY few. Our military is not being taken care of anymore, at all. They are all over worked and burning out. The ones who survive the mess, they need to be taken care of mentally before they walk back into their front doors. They are not, they are not at all. It is truly disgusting. They fight to keep the world free, we the people free and literally get shit on when they come home. They deserve much better. May they all rest in peace.

This is where heavy metal tends to be. Harder forms of rock started out more with people expressing their anger at terrible circumstances and stuff happening. The majority of heavy metal discusses some very deep and difficult to talk about topics, it can be easy to assume otherwise but metal music tends to have some of the most inspiring messages behind them if one can focus more on the lyrics.

As a veteran I’ve been homeless a few times, especially since being divorced…I get lost and don’t know what to do, I make do as long as I can, the “housing” the VA offers for veterans that are homeless are usually in a bad area where veterans tend to fall hard into drugs/alcoholism and I refuse to give into that. Luckily I’ve made a good friend where I’m at who’s letting me stay with him so I can still see my kids and get back in my feet….but even then, it’s not forever as he has his own family to worry about. Pray for us veterans….because our country doesn’t give a crap about us

I'm so glad you reacted to this video. 5FDP is one of my favorite bands and they are 110% behind our men & woman who have served (Vets) those currently serving active duty, National guard, and our future soldiers. But our Veterans are probably closest to their (as well as our) hearts. Sadly, those who have been in combat and lucky enough to come home, they are still fighting in their minds and it is an unimaginable hell on the inside while they fight to hold it together and put on a smile for OUR (family, friends, etc..) benefit and not so much their own. They don't want us to worry while they are battling intrusive thoughts of the things they saw & had to do to ensure that we all cc an sleep at night knowing that even though they struggle they would jump right back in if today, without hesitation, if asked to do so. I'm the daughter of a military vet and also a mother to a soldier. The statistics in this video are a horrible but sad reality for the people we love who we watch leave one person, only to return still our loved ones, but also a total stranger at the same time. It is a grotesque reality of war, but unfortunately, a necessary evil unless we can figure out how to change that aspect, though highly unlikely. But what we CAN do is treat those lucky enough to come back to us so much better than... This. I'm not claiming to have the answers to anything. But I've saw the look they leave with, and the torment they come home with and even come home to. We ask them to go defend our rights & freedoms in a moments notice and to risk their lives, sanity, and friends lives that they all come home feeling responsible for the loss of any & ALL of the fallen. But we can't turn around and lend a helping hand to them (sometimes something as simple as a phone call) when they need us?! It's a terrible horrific reality but I feel like every single person should be made aware of the result of their sacrifices that WE asked of them after the parties & parades are over and there is so many who don't even come home to a hug or a handshake. I'm sorry it always gets me emotional when I talk about these issues. But if everyone would just not forget about them in times of peace & after they get home. Don't forget about them. Sometimes it means literally life & death for them just to get a phone call out of the clear blue, and not just on Nov 11th (Veterans day) or July 4th. They need to be in our thoughts and prayers all the time and we need to put forth the effort to help with anything and everything they need.

On the first day of his first deployment to Iraq he had to help clean the inside of a hummer in the motor pool where a soldier had committed s****de, he s*ot himself in the head because of a dear John letter - she took the house, the kids, the dog, and cleaned out his bank account. The layers of tragedy and trauma some these guys carry around is at times an unbearable weight. We owe it to them to try to help them carry it at least a little. Love from the US ❤🇺🇸

This brought me to tears. Look up “Battle 22” . They are a veterans group helping veterans. 22 veterans take their own life EVERY DAY. 🥺🥺 My husband is a veteran. We fight his PTSD every day. He retired in 2000. We have been married 42 years, and no matter how hard it gets, we will be together “till death do we part” Thank you for sharing this, getting the word out there, more people need to know.

Let me say, as a wife of a veteran with PTSD, please don’t ever entertain the thought that you should just end it all. Please always seek help. Although you may not see it day to day, America loves you, God loves you.

A good friend of mine was a tanker in the Army. He was part of the initial invading force in Iraq in 2003. While there, his tank was hit by an RPG. To this day he struggles with alcohol, PTSD, and the shrapnel still stuck in his body. He's not one of the soulless politicians who ordered the invasion; he was just a grunt on the ground. I've got a lot of respect for those who serve which makes it so frustrating to see vets not getting care and our government all too willing to put troops in harm's way for all the wrong reasons.

The stat at the end is what hits me, every fucking time. "In the time you were watching this video, A veteran somewhere took his own life" I legitimately can not look at it without shedding a tear... Even in the service myself, I can see how things are going, we are failing my brothers and sister...

thank you so much for your reaction. i'm a combat veteran and have lost my marriage, my house and everything to my PTS. I've been fortunate enough to be able to start to build my life again over the last couple of years but every day is a struggle. Again, thank you for your heartfelt reaction to such an important song. "You saved my life, Brother" will always get me. That's real. The statistics have only gotten worse. there are many more homeless vets on the streets and the number of veteran suicides has about doubled to about 1 per hour. this has to stop

I am U.S. Army Veteran. I served 12 years and I am currently at risk of being evicted from my apartment which I have lived at since 2007. I joined the Army because I felt that it was the proper thing to do at the time. I would like to share the entire story as to why they want to evict me but it would take to long.

You probably already know this. But at the VA hospitals( the ones I've been to) have a housing social worker department. They would have a list of lawyers that help with legal issues(?). And the staff was really helpful. Try calling your local VA hospital or visit and see if they can help . Sorry, I have TBI my memory/vocabulary is bad. I hope you atleast get what I'm meaning

I think a big thing to consider is that PTSD is more of a symptom of an experience someone’s gone through, it can’t be treated the same across the board. There isn’t a medical procedure or medicine for it. Everyone has to work through it their own way.
