Being an American is not only about being born here, or immigrating here and attaining citizenship. Being an American is a very specific state of mind and heart. I’m not saying we’re superior to other nationalities. But we are different. I’ve lived in various countries overseas so I’ve seen this firsthand. I saw Lee Greenwood sing this at a military base overseas when the song was recently released. We all just about lost our minds. 😄🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

As a 71 year old American woman, I think I can honestly say that what I love most about this incredible, fantastic country is the fact that while we may be one GIANT dysfunctional family, in the face of adversity and hardship, we will set aside all our differences to help/defend each other. Even at my age and gender, if I felt the need, you can bet I won’t run from the enemy. We are open, warm, and friendly, embracing all who come to visit us but God help those who dare to try and destroy us! This song is a powerful tribute to just how patriotic the American people are as a whole and just how much we love this country. It goes to our very core!!! But, make no mistake, we do NOT ever take our freedom for granted. I LOVE this country! This song is indicative of the fact that I’m not alone in this; we all love this country. I don’t ever wish to live anywhere else. I’m not knocking other countries and would actually love to visit Europe and a few other countries. As an American and child of an US Army soldier, this song gives me chills. NO ONE EVER has done such a magnificent job of this song. The voices are superb. The soldiers were chosen from the choruses of several services. People pushed for it to become our national anthem.

I agreed it is a beautiful song and as a veteran an American Patriot it brings tears to my eyes hearing it but if you know the backstory Star Spangled Banner there's no way anyone can replace that as the national anthem just a short version of it Francis Scott Key was a lawyer in Baltimore and he met with the commanding officer at Fort Henry during the Revolutionary War the English had their Ships coming in the water full of American prisoners at the American had English prisoners he went out in the small boat to the English bolts to work a deal with the English to swap prisoners they came to a thing and said they would switch on 1 for 1 he went down to where the prisoners were being held under deck to tell them what happened he went back up and talk to the Admiral on the boat the Admiral told him it did really matter because the war would be over shortly I told him to look out on a ride we did he seen hundreds of Warships I told him that work complete English War fleet as if the war would be over by morning because they were coming to bombard that fort and said that all they had to do was lower their American flag and show that they surrendered at the whole thing would be called off there would be no attack and they refused he went back down to tell the prisoners what was going on and prisoners began to pray when the rest of the ship's got there attack started and continued all night long it was said that you could hear nothing except except the bombs bursting Francis Scott Key get the men continue to pray and the flag still stood but at a strange angle the Admiral said they could not figure out how that flag did not fall after Direct Hit to it many times through the night Francis Scott Key went back to the fort and see what had held at flag up that's when he wrote The Star-Spangled Banner what held that flag up at the angle that it was was American Patriot all through the night it kept getting hit and they held it as a Patriot was killed his body was removed in someone else replaced them all the words to it is what Francis Scott Key seen that night many patriots died that night make sure that flag did not hit the ground and come down that is the true story check it out and in WWII approximately 50000 Americans died on the beaches of Normandy to defend that flag so there is no way in hell that song could ever be replaced as our American Anthem God Bless America and God bless the American Patriot🙏🏼🇺🇸🦅

While I wholeheartedly agree with the fact that America fought to break away from England, I won't agree with the idea that British people aren't proud of their country. I've been researching my ancestry for over 45 Y=years and what I have learned is that we ALL came from somewhere else;we just choose to identify with certain aspects of what we have learned.

As everyone has mentioned, this is actually Home Free ft. Lee Greenwood and the Air Force Singing Sergeants. Lee said he loved doing this version because he could let his voice go since someone else can hold down the melody. This is 100% acapella, and done during the pandemic so it was recorded in separate locations. Home Free is an amazing acapella group, the vocal percussionist is Adam Rupp, co-founder of the group and he just sounds like real drums...all the members are extremely talented. They also do "American Pie" ft Don McLean the original artist, done for it's 50th anniversary.

There is an extended version that goes into detail of how this arrangement was executed. Search for "Home Free - Making of "God Bless The U.S.A." feat. Lee Greenwood and the U.S. Air Force Band". The logistics was a feat in itself. Like Mike said, It is nice to see the pleasure Lee still gets from this song.
