I have a lot of computers in my room and bought a mini split ac specifically to cool my room. The minisplit cost $600 off ebay brand new and the HVAC guy near me wanted $6000 to install. So instead I spent about $250 in tools and $200 for 20lbs of R410a off local classifieds and just watched KZbin videos and installed it all my self. Have moved a coupled times since then and I can fully install the unit in < 1hr now. KZbin has infinite knowledge!

I had an HVAC company try to tell me my unit was blown, compressor was blown, fan motor was blown, coolant was leaking, and my ducts were terrible and needed to be replaced. Quote for new unit and ducts was around $22k. Got multiple opinions and 3 different hvac companies told me the same thing. Got another guy to come out because I wasn’t convinced that was the issue since I have a 2016 Carrier unit. The last guy that came out just said the fan motor blew and it was common my area because we have a lot of power surges. Replaced that for $600 and I’ve been blowing cold air ever since. I live on the east coast of Florida so if you have an issue in the summer, they know that you’ll most likely just do whatever they say because you’ll wish you were dead in a FL summer without cool air. Pathetic that they do that to people who just want to have a cool home

R22 is $650 a drum for 30lb. Not for one pound. Replacement for 410a is normal nowadays. HOWEVER, NU-22 IS A blue Tank. R22 retrofit replacement that doesnt require any gasket changing. just a new filter drier and a system flush. Pull a 500 micron vacuum and drop in 90% of the factory charge you wouldve put with R22. Only costs $200 for a drum and has saved thousands of dollars for my customers. Commercial and Residential. No TXV or Metering devices need yo be changed either
