Does the Bible Really Teach that the Earth is Young?

Most Christians throughout history have believed that God created the world around 6,000 years ago, but scientists tell us that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. What gives? Is the Bible wrong? Are scientists wrong? Are WE wrong to think that the Bible teaches that the earth is young?

6 days creation , one of rest. 6 thousand years of man (almost up), a thousand years of the rest of the Lord, then a new heaven and a new earth, for the old has passed away...

Adam was not created on the 6th day. Adam was created from dust of ground after God's 7th day... see Gen2.... Jesus was very explicit about events on 6th day when He spoke in two gospels about divorce saying. From the beginning (when? On 6th day beginning) God created them male and female" He quoted from Gen1 for only in Gen1 do we find man and woman created Ex-Nehlio but in Gen2 ADAM is created 1st then after several events Eve is created You err by making Gen1&Gen2 as same e events Eden was not the earth. Mankind of Gen1 were told replenish and have dominion over earth. Adam was told to tend garden eden not earth 🌎 Eden was watered by a river but earth was watered by a mist before the fall Mankind of Gen1 was told to eat everything but Adam was restricted to all but one tree. Time between Gen1&Gen2 is Unspecified by scripture. YEC is a false cult full of false teaching predicated upon lie that Gen1&Gen2 are same events and until the error is corrected the will spew scientific falsehoods

Excellent video! I found myself in the camp of saying that the account of Genesis is in fact *True*. People used to say that when Jesus was ‘Sweating Blood’ that this phrase was just proof that the Gospels were not real and were exaggerated. However, the same way we found out that this does in fact happen and is *True, so is the Genesis account. It did happen but we may not have all the puzzle pieces yet, we will all get the chance to ask if we continue to trust in Christ and do as he has said. Remember: Love Thy neighbor as you do yourself and Love God with all your heart.

Thanks for all you do and also presenting the word in a way that is simple to understand. I have a question. Without the gap theory, How do you explain the timing of the fall of lucifer. We know he was cast down to earth. I always assumed this was prior to creation of man, Do you have any scripture that can expand on this ? It appears without gap theory It would mean that lucifers' fall happened while man was in the garden. Looking forward to hearing from you and learning more. Thanks again for all you do.

Have you ever looked into the counter arguments by creation scientists? It's a whole debate. Lots of really intelligent experts believe the earth is very young.

@PowerfulRift The science of archeology is fickle and has a history of being proven wrong while the Bible is vindicated every time something is dug up. Something much less subjective that scientists have "dug up" are the amount of mutations in mitochondria & Y chromosome DNA. Tracing the mutations backwards through pedigree rate studies has placed Eve at about 6,000 years and Noah (our last male common ancestry) at about 4,500 years. I was a bit skeptical at first, wondering if I should watch this, but I am glad I did. Mostly people murder the account of Genesis 1-11, the doing of which to me undermines the faith they claim to hold.

Excellent video: I support a literal 6 day creation but I am open to the gap theory as a part of this because it is the only theory that might be possible while remainimg true to the text. That is, there were perhaps billions of years from the big bang (that God caused) to the start of the six literal days He took in the creation account.

Like to hear interaction with Jesus’ use of Isaiah 61:1-2 where he stopped reading after the first half of verse 2, because the day of vengeance would be fulfilled few thousand years later. There’s nothing in the original text to signal this intent with the “and” to mean a gap. Certainly this does only at least ALLOW for this interpretation of the first two verses of Genesis.

Remember when scientist discovered that the incredible eatable egg had 33 %less cholesterol than previously thought. 😂😂. That is how long ago that I knew scientist know nothing.

Another piece of evidence that Genesis 1-11 is literal is the Septuagint. In Genesis 5 and 11, twelve of generations have an extra 100 years on the begetting ages in the Septuagint (and an extra 50 years on an additional generation). This may or may not be because the Hebrew manuscripts at the time had these extra years in them (we don't have any Dead Sea Scrolls of these chapters to verify it). Either way, the fact that people felt the need to, for whatever reason, either deflate the age of the Earth by about 1,250 years or inflate the age of the Earth by about 1,250 years shows that these were viewed as literal. There would have been no need to alter these if they were viewed as non-literal (whatever the reason may have been for altering them).

*Psalm 102:25 - Of OLD hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.* STOP saying the Scripture teaches what it does NOT. *2 Peter 3:5 - For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of OLD, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:*

We should look at all places in scripture where "creation" language is used. Jeremiah 4:23, I beheld the Earth, and lo, it was without form and void; and the heavens, they had no light. 24 I beheld the mountains, and, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. 25 I beheld, and lo,there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. Theres more info in the following verses, read it for yourself, but it seems to be describing the aftermath of some catastrophic event and the Earth is appointed a time of mourning. No one knows how long that period is. Isaiah 45:18, 2 Peter 3:6, and other places indicate that earth is older than 6000 years. Psalms 104:30 reads that God recreated the surface of the earth.

Animals are with us to give us comfort....& they do that so well especially dogs! The dog videos are the best & most rewarding I can watch online (I've had 2 myself) But as a theologian i'm sorry... they just cease to exist. They are innocent creatures without soles ..so can't sin like us... that why we love animals so much. Take strength in CHRIST Sister & look for another dog to love ✝ ❤

I believe that God created the earth in 6 days, that he created it with age! Just like he created Adam, Adam was created an adult not a baby! The earth was created at a certain maturity.

God created everything in certain age, like Adam and Eve. They were adult in the moment were created. It was chicken first, not egg.

Gen1 and Gen2 are the same story, Gen2 just goes into more detail. Gen1 says God created humans, Gen2 says how God created humans. They are both referring to the same event. Adam only tended the garden of eden not because God confined him there but because he's only one man, and after Eve one man and one woman. They can't tend the entire earth. Gen2 says that "but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground" that sounds a lot like a river to me.
