I imagine that Angel appearing at the tomb and starting to move the stone that sealed the tomb, which caused an earthquake, and I imagine the noise and the feel of the ground moving under their feet as they approached the tomb. I imagine this enormous 7 ft tall slim handsome muscular body of an angel sitting on the stone that he had just moved away. Sitting there looking so cheerful. His smile so radiant. The angel looking silver and gold and brilliantly glowing in white and his wings so enormous behind him. & his voice so microphoned like coming through big speakers as he spoke to them saying "he is not hear". I imagine that when I hear or read this reading.

In his comments of Day 266 Fr Mike talks about how even Jesus felt abandoned on the cross. I realized a long time ago to check myself when I have that "where are you God" in any situation. It is always ME turning my face away from Him. Whenever I correct my gaze at Him who sustains me He is ALWAYS there. He may not be there with the answer I want, a cure for cancer of a sister, is the latest. He is always here for me when I look at Him.

September 23, 2023 I do not want to pray alone. Will you please join me in praying for Souls in Purgatory? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

I am 51 and also this my 1st time and I am also a year behind too! So you are not alone. It just feels so good to be reading God’s inspired words! After all how can we truly love Him and serve Him and our neighbors if we don’t truly know Him? A great priest in my church challenged everyone to read the Bible with that in mind. He said all Catholics need to read the Bible and it stuck with me until a year later I stumbled on Father Mike. The rest is history! We are almost there. Stick with it. I am praying for you! Please pray for me! Hummmmm… where did I hear that before????

My Bible says that one who was crucified with Jesus told the other man who was being crucified to not mock Jesus, the Son of God. And Jesus told the man today you will be with me in Paradise. There are somethings in my King James Version Bible that are different than the Ascension Bible that The Catholic Church uses. One thing stays the same. Jesus died for our sins. Thank you God and thank you Jesus, for opening the way for us to be received into Heaven. ❤

Matthew 27: 52-53 It says graves were opened and bodies of Saints arose and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the Holy City and appeared to many. Jewish people today say the dead will arise when the Messiah comes--but does this scripture mean they already did?

I am sure that Our Lord experienced all of human feelings - but I am also sure that He could not have really experienced 'guilt'. He was God/man and nothing in His life would have caused Him to ever feel guilty - unlike us - who try to avoid feeling guilty when we know full well we should feel exactly that!!Maybe Our Lord vicariously felt the guilt of those around Him - but for Himself - no way.Thanks Father Mike - always pray for you daily.

Day 266- Son Of The Father. Sunday September 22th, 2024. I can not believe it is 99 days left of the 365 days. WOW. Today's readings are Matthew 27-28 and Proverbs 19:25-29. What a journey has been for the past 3 years...!!! I did the Bible in a year podcast the very first year it came out which was January 1 of 2021, I did it all over again in 2022, I did the Catechism in a year in 2023, and in 2024 I have been redoing the Bible in a year for the third time. So, so amazing that I can not have enough of it and thinking of doing it in 2025, again. Thank you Father Mike Schmitz and the whole team who made it possible for us to have this amazing podcast which is priceless in my humble opinion. Deo gratias.

That wicked generation already got their punishment. The crowd didn’t know it but when they said “let his blood be on us and our children” they were actually unknowingly predicting the mass murder and destruction of the temple unleashed by the Romans during their children’s generation. Therefore trying to do evil to the Jewish people because of that line in Matthew is unjustified because the punishment for uttering those words and Jesus subsequent death has already been carried out.

If it wasn't Judas Iscariot, it would have been someone else. If you had asked me before the betrayal, I would have picked Simon the Zealot. He had formed part of a terrorists group. He might have wanted Jesus to strike back at the Romans.

Isaiah 53:10 But the LORD desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand. This is the lens I see the Jesus' words "My God My God why have you abandoned Me?" The Father as some translations was actually "Pleased" to allow this crushing suffering of His only Son in Gethsemane. I understand that yet Jesus was enduring His Passion He was never separated from the Father yet there was this juxtaposition or dichotomy going on. Image if you were dying all the while your father was smiling upon you. This was another deed the Father was well pleased in Jesus' dying humanity all the while maintaining His immortal divinity. Not only does He command the wind and sea but death could not contain Him!

Doing this for a second year, I have done far more research into this church, firstly I love who Fr Mike is and his teaching and the obvious passion he has for his faith, however I cannot seem to let go on some things that seem so obviously wrong here. I apologise if I am constantly sounding critical, I don't wish to offend, but through my own research even I am surprized by what I have found. Interesting to learn how the whole relic thing got started, that kind of makes sense, but somehow it got corrupted along the way, there are three right hands of John the Baptist out there, Luther did his own audit on pieces of the cross in various churches, and what he found here was there was enough wood for a small building ! We can't attach any importance to ' things'.
@brianmelville5204 ай бұрын
I recommend you concentrate more on the spiritual side (faith) of these earthly things. They just help and point towards Jesus Christ.
