Also, many thanks to Grant who filmed a number of the clips of me training used in this video (and others).
Flow states are states of heightened focus that bring about enhanced reflexes, a sense of time dilation, creative problem solving, and a feeling of infallible calm.
Nootropics are supplements, medications, and other compounds used with the somewhat-transhuman goal of enhancing human cognition to enhance productivity and performance.
Seems like a match made in heaven, right?
In this video, I discuss multiple different strategies you can use to try and achieve flow states through the use of nootropics and supplements.
There are more options over at the blog post, but the stacks I found most effective were Adapt-232, Caffeine + L-Theanine, and a general 'brain health' stack.

3 times in my life, I think, I had something like a flowing state. It's hard to describe, but it feels amazing. I know it sounds weird, but my first and second time was in a video game. Suddenly my head was completely empty. I did not think of anything. Everything I saw was in slow motion and it feels like someone else controls my body. It was like i am just a spectator. All of this is clear to me after it happened. My third time was in physical education at school. It was a one against one in the high jump and I want to win and then it happens again.

Before the pandemic i lived in flow state almost constantly.. now i want to get my stress under control and get back. It was the best time ive ever had. Almost felt divine and had the highest Performance in every possible field. when in flow you get a higher feel of Spirituality and connectiveness to the world. like your melting with what youre doing or with someone youre meeting

The best way I can identify with a “ flow state” is as a musician the feeling creativity in the sense of my whole body being in a sort of faithful alignment where it comes natural and it’s like walking a tight rope without ever thinking to look down .. it’s a larger than myself kind of disposition.

Flow states, man its hard to explain it but doing hot laps on a motocross bike, or grappling, martial arts sparring and fighting sometimes your mind goes blank and your mind transforms your soul. I've experienced it. Unfortunately some weird auto immune type conditions ruined my body and life, I cant get into flow state anymore

Read the translation of Beowulf. That should do it. Basically go in the woods wearing animal skin and become wild again. The animal skin will merge with yours (i can personally attest of that). Once fully animal have the animal skin ripped off of yours. (Super painful) You just gained the ability to tap fully into the animal your are, congratulations. Then there are substance that enhance your ability to focus on fighting, unfortunately it can impar your ability to distinguish between friend and fow. (Bezerk mode) Ointment to regenerate health , like yarow. It does tap into the occult and so there us a high price to pay. Fear, anxiety, madness for example. But you feel great for one battle. Interested? I learned that from The Teaching Company (audio format)

I’ve had add my whole life and it’s always been hard for me to focus on things that didn’t matter to me, hence why I did really bad in school. But would always hyper focus on things that interest me, it happens quite often to me when I’m running working out, or even drawing. I will forget i’m Listen to music I won’t remember what anyone said to me. But I think having add helps me tap into flow state more easily but it has a cost, I go through life mostly unaware of the things that don’t interest me I feel my mind shutting off when doing things that are not engaging

Thinking about brain recuperation is quite an interesting approach, I think I may have been in a constant state of burnout for the last 4 years... I have never performed well at university, just the bare minimum and, ocasionally, somewhat better than some of my colleagues if I had some background in a particular subject. I've never understood where my brilliance and power could have gone to, but this video may have pointed me to something interesting...

After seeing that this video was finally out, I became inspired to create a playlist for myself of all your videos, and others, that relate to this topic in some way. Hopefully, this will help with my "learn everything" goal I mentioned to you in another comment some time ago. I named the playlist "Cosmic Instinct." Why? because the term was too awesome not to use. I've also renamed my "learn everything" goal so that I now refer to it as "Become Batman." Greatest goal ever, if you ask me. Anyway, Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.

I saw your Shaolin video. MIght I suggest you engage with Sifu Wong Kiew Kit (as you quoted from one of his books) and do one of his intensive qigong courses in order to experience a spontaneous flow of Qi (chi) throughout the body? The Qi generated will flow to whichever part of the body needs healing, clearing away energy blockages and negative emotions and restoring good health. It requires no drugs and the Qigong state of mind that you need to enter is a form of Zen meditation in itself. Qi-flow is well known in both the Shaolin and Wudang traditions and requires nothing other than the qigong forms used to generate it.

IDK if this has anything to do with flow states, but when I use to workout doing only push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and pullups with 60 seconds rest between the sets maxing out each and every set. I noticed that the first 4-7 sets I would do fewer and fewer each set but then hit a bottom number and I could hit that each time, but then after I got to the 10-15 set rang my reps actually would start going up again. Not by a significant percentage, but maybe 1-4 more than what I would bottom out at for a few sets. I never got past 20 sets because it was too time-consuming, so added weight and notice the same thing after building up to that level with weight.

After watching this video, I kept occasionally dropping things (clumsy me!) but my arms would move all on their own and before I even knew what happened I had caught it, or my knee would shoot out and trap the object between it and another object, let's say a wall then then I would come to my senses and use my hand to pick it up. For the first 2-3 times this happened I would say to myself "So this is the power of Ultra Instinct?" but jokingly of course. However this has now happened more than 15 times and I still haven't broke my streak. I have never dropped something without dropping it. Once I was holding three eggs with two hands, the third one dropped and I caught it between the two other eggs and none of them broke!

With high levels of it, I do not have to sleep, do not have to eat very much (800-900 calories for 55 days last time), and I can work at twice the level. I have these episode of something like the 'manic' state but without depression. Summary of my long comment and point : we shouldn't aim at flow state first because to grow, the journey has to be frustrating and challenging to gain a certain degree of mastery. Flow state is high focus with high success rate task and very low failure rate. There is another state where we have a bit lower success rate and higher failure rate. It's like a frustration state, but this one is where we actually learn most. Idk how to describe it, but I remember a expression from a psychology book about humans needing aggression to sink their teeth and devouring frustrating complex problems. In programming and math, it feels like flow if problem is easy enough but but that's only if you've seen similar problem and mastered that sub field. Like a black belt jujitsu practitioner will have flow state available. if it's complicated, failure rate is higher and enduring this frustration state becomes key to mastery. Then after time here, that material success rate gets high and less frustrating, thus transitioning to aquire flow state. On a side note: in a Carl Jung perspective, this is why Vegeta represents the persona (ego/frustration) and Goku the child (unconcunconscious/flow). They approach problems from different utilities of their domains of self.
