A thing I noticed about everyone who’s jumping on the self improvement bandwagon is that they always neglect how to get there. It’s detrimental to just say “move out” without emphasizing the importance of learning a skill. I see people moving out just to work a deadend job just to make no improvement 10-20+ years later. It’s a horrible stereotype to immediately assume men (I’m not including women from personal experience) who still live with their family are just basement dwellers who’d rather watch porn all day than make something of themselves. I’ve listened to all the wrong advice in the world (keep your head down and work 2 jobs) and the only progress I’ve made is premature balding. It wasn’t until I ran into the likes of AMS, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Aaron Clarey and TRP I was given the right advice (make sacrifices to learn a skill) and I’ve made more progress in the past year alone than I’ve had 9 years of working like a slave. My best advice for younger men who aren’t able to move out but want to is to learn a profitable skill, have a minimum of $5k in liquid assets and have a driver’s license ( it’s shocking how much not having one holds you back). I recently left my job to enroll in an IT program (with employee placement) along with $25k in assets ($5k cash, $20k stocks) and moving out to a new area in my late 20’s. Also as a warning, during these times many jobs with little to no foreseeable advancement are starting out at $15/hr. Yes, get that job, but use that job to get yourself into a career that requires learning a skill. “It’s okay to not be okay, but it’s not okay to stay there”

I stayed home until I was 24. I could have left earlier but I wanted some stability so I saved enough to buy a house. I didn't want to rent because I wanted to have home equity and start building wealth. It definitely wasn't comfortable living at home that long but I think it will pay off in the long run. I had a plan. Yeah I was at home but I was going to school, working full-time and had a social life of abundance. As long as you're at home making use of the time it's not bad. Just don't be living off your folks doing nothing. And TBH is right...your mom will never respect you as long as you're there so have a plan in place.

People are afraid of failure without realizing that without the concept of failure there is no concept of succeeding. Some people watch and envy confidence or comfort of other people in situations that make people anxious fail to realize that before that comfort level was established they was just as or more anxious or scared as the rest of people. Taking risks and doing shit urself pays off for you, ya family, and anybody you wanna pass that knowledge off to like your children, friends, or relatives that look up to you. Comfort Isn’t taught its earned through confronting life and doing things your way. I’m going through this cycle myself and I hope all of ya do too

I'm definitely in the crippling fear category. If anyone young reading this, take chances now. Don't end up a loser like me. I know it's scary, trust me, but the regret and issues that can come from it later on is not worth it. I've got depression and I would not wish it on anyone. I was scared to be myself in hs and beyond because I was afraid of what people will think. I couldn't speak up for myself, and my parents didn't help with that at all. I thought liking nerdy stuff was taboo even though I'm literally typing in a comment section of someone making a career involving those things. Learn to stand on your own, to be yourself, grow, and that's where you'll find that happiness. I'm not saying it's impossible to do this later in life, but you gonna be playing on veteran when you could've tried it on recruit.

Like I heard TBH say a long time ago, “if it don’t apply, let it fly”. Taking things personal is why people miss crucial information. If you have a plan, if you’re working towards something important to you, if you know, the basement is not the end of your journey, he can’t be talking about you. If it stings a little, that’s complacency, if it’s a slap in the face, get up! Thanks TBH!

I’m planning on moving out within another year and a half alongside buying one of my dream cars (Scat Pack Charger). This video is basically everything I told myself during the process of me finalizing my decision. “I know the life I wanna live and I’ll never get there if I don’t get up off my ass and get it.” I’ve already done a decent bit with this mindset, and it’s unfortunate that a lot of people around my age don’t have that same incentive. But you can only lead a horse to water, whether that mf drink or not is on them.

No joke they mentioned in passing they were looking for a roommate one night, i said "fuck it" and within a month of having known them, packed up and moved literally from NY to OR (a week before i turned 21 too!) and its been the best decision of my life, I own my own property now and make far more than i owe on everything monthly going on 25 in September, have a good job and am surrounded constantly with some of the most encouraging and strong people i've met. In the words from one of the GOAT superhero films, It's all a leap of faith. You're always gonna have to do something for the first time, no point living with the regret that you never took risks. Great discussion on independence, this the type of shit I be missing from my other subs.

This the biggest I need to work being 19 although I plan to live with my parents for a long time I wanna be in a place where I have a job/career that could support myself and getting into the groove of working. The process of applying for a job meeting new people def makes me anxious but sometimes I can't tell if it's just that or im lazy, I have a lot of respect for people who can work jobs where social interaction with many people throughout the day is key

I'm so glade there a remen clearing things up in the comment sections. There is a huge difference to what TBH is saying and how some are taking it. Its fine to extend the time you live at home with your parents as long as you have a goal, plan, and drive for the future of a career or wealth. But that doesnt mean to get comfortable and not learn any life skills so once you get out of there you have still have the mentality of a teen who needs conscent from their parents. If you sit and do nothing for yourself and wait til your 30 with no prep for youself then thats where TBHs words come from .

You're lying about opening a bank account at 15 without your mom. Minors, unless emancipated with an income, cannot open a bank account independently without a co signer. Stop the cap cause you be spitting some real facts and I've been a fan since way back but I notice a lot of your content is starting to become unbacked

22 years old just moved back with Mom again. The first time was when I was 19. I felt free, still anxious but free. I had my own car and roommates though that's probably why I was still anxious. Now it's 2021 I got comfortable with my Covid relief funds and taxes after losing my job last year in September. I moved in with her in April, so it's been 4 months. I don't feel bad about moving back with Mom because I'm the youngest sibling, and I get support from the older ones even if I refuse they still help out of pity. I moved in with a deal that I watch my older brother with Autism while my Mom leaves the house, because she can't take my brother with her because he runs into traffic and stuff like that. All my sisters drop their kids off (5 total) leaving me with my hands full 24/7 with no time to even touch my Computer. I had to replace a keyboard and a headset in the first month, because they broke them. When I was 19 I couldn't take all the kids annoyance they broke 3 pairs of headphones and my PS4 and all the controllers which made me move out for 2 & a half years. Now I'm stuck watching every kid in the family on weekends plus my older brother on weekdays again when I just wanted to Stream, edit, and draw 2 days a week. There is no time if there is a 3 year old trying to break my PC every 30 secs. People thought I died on my Discord I was inactive for 4+ months. Any tips? I can't work from home because people throw all of their responsibilities on me. They see working at home as just being home. Watching my brother with autism is easy and that's why I agreed to it. It's just the Uncle part 24/7 I hate. I didn't agree for all my sisters to dump their kids while my mom worked it's too much. If I say anything about it they yell at me and say grow up... I literally can't attempt to start a career because I never have time to myself no matter where I go they follow, because they love technology. And I can't leave the house because no one else is here to watch them in my absent. My mom works 12 hour shifts of security, so I can only leave when she is off which is 1 day a week and everyone works the same days.

I got friends who watched me struggle to get on my feet. But still with live they family. One of which I literally extended him an invitation when I moved to a new state. Fast forward a year later they see I'm doing good and asking can I vouch for them at my job. Like nah some people will watch you struggle then when you succeed will ask you to help them.

As soon as I can buy a cheap little car I’m getting my own place. I just want to be able to have my own transportation to get to work. I’ve done Uber before but that shit cosstttt lol. I can not see myself even at the age of 23, living with my mom, doing some of the things you mentioned, I just can’t. There’s some good having to go through some shit at a young age. You learn how to take yo L’s and keep it pushing. Like you said, some people just never jumped off the porch

It's hard to apply one specific statement to a mass. Hopefully we all found out who we are so that we can become "individuals". If that's the case, then certain things that might apply for one person won't apply it to others. I'm not saying anything being said is wrong I'm just saying it doesn't apply to everybody 🤷 mental health issues are real is not an excuse. Is the world we live in so please acknowledge that and be respectful 💯
