@@DietDrPepper57877 CHOPS is what you call someone who blows you away with their talent. It applies to singers & musicians. This young man knows his way around a trumpet & is showing it with his original piece, "Steal This". I always say that Jennifer Hudson has CHOPS when she sings classic songs, making them hers without destroying the original. Her versions of "Simply Beautiful" & "Hallelujah" are perfect examples.

I have a question related to range. So i jave really big front teeth and and an overbite and I literally cannot get my range to increase. A lot of times ill try to play but only air comes out. If you could give any tips on positioning and mouthpiece it would be much appreciated 👍 thanks!

If only air comes out when you try to play, it means your aperture (the middle of your lips where air passes through) is too big. I recommend learning how to make it smaller. On my channel, look for “How to Play high notes part one” to learn.

Wynton Marsalis came to my highschool, about a decade ago, and played for my class along side some Russian, Yugoslavian, or some other post Soviet musicians that came that day. I believe one of his brothers attended the nearby University of Louisville. That's probably why he was in town.

@@TheBlackTrumpeter Well, I was watching the sheet music going by and it looks difficult. I have a learning disability so playing the trumpet can be difficult. For an example, I was trying to play "Darn That Dream" a d kept messing up and was getting angry. I had to put the horn away or it was gonna go airborne out the window. I hate that my learning issues limit me on what I can achieve.

YOU need to be patient with yourself. Reading music takes time in the beginning and you must start with the simple scores. Start with long notes and rests, semibreves, minims and crotchets. Next work on dotted notes and tied notes. Then try some quavers and semiquavers. In between, try reading some simple songs that you know the melodies. You will be familiar and know what you should hear when you play. But be patient and remember that it may take a while if you don't have someone teaching you. Also, and this important, try to remember what certain note combinations sound like, eg a group of quavers, a group of semiquavers, a dotted quaver followed by a semiquaver or the other way around.
