I saw OHMSS on the big screen this weekend just passed (benefits of being a Brit) and despite it being my number 1 already, I was completely enraptured in it, and found myself getting extremely emotional with it, especially as it approached its end. I knew what was coming, and for the first time, actively didnt want it to end that way. Rigg is just phenomenal, and Lazenby, despite the critics, puts in a solid performance, and the end where he cries into her as she is dead in his arms, really got to me, and I was tearing up in the aisle. Seeing it on the big screen for the first time really allowed me to become involved in the nuance of the performances, and really resonated with me in a way it previously hadnt. Which is a very long winded way of me saying that there is always new ways to connect and be involved with the films, even if you think you have seen them a hundred times and know them inside out.... well, its all about perspective after all.

I couldn't get to cinema to see OHMSS I but my wife and children went to see You Only Live Twice last weekend and we all really enjoyed it. Bond films are so much better on a cinema screen. My Bond origins lie with Goldeneye N64. Back in 1997, for whatever reason, as a 9 year old kid, I started playing Goldeneye on N64. Somebody told me it was based on a movie. So I watched Goldeneye. Loved it. That’s how it started for me. Then I proceeded to watch all the other movies. I’ve been a Bond fan for 25 years. Watching the movies, playing Goldeneye and TWINE. In 2003, my sister gave away our N64 and all our games to her friend. Summer 2021, my sister is friends with someone who owns an N64 and Goldeneye. I ask to borrow game and console. It’s almost a year later and I still have both N64 and Goldeneye. Also a few months ago I tracked down a copy of TWINE as well. The fact I have an N64 here with both Goldeneye and TWINE to play whenever I want is the coolest thing. A window into my childhood. ❤️

I'm grateful to Craig, but I'd prefer future films to be more about the mission and less about Bond. 'This time it's personal' has been done to death, even if it does provide the star with a chance to exercise his acting chops. No more agonising, soul-searching and inner torment. The lightness used to be what we loved about Bond. Whether the producers/studio will risk pivoting (back) in this direction in our more narcissistic self-indulgent age is another matter.

I needed to step away from my own Revisiting Bond, James Bond page on Facebook to gain perspective and to give more focus on my life and the several events going on. I recently sat down to re-watch THUNDERBALL, my favorite of the Bond Films. I admit, I have been very disappointed with No Time To Die, even after seeing it six times. I had been wondering if the producers and filmmakers painted themselves into a corner with the ending and how the heck can the series go forward? My passion for Bond was reignited upon re-watching THUNDERBALL. It is still sooooo damn good! I started posting on my Facebook blog and thinking of creative ways to continue it. Man, I wish you both. Could put together a Bond On The Big Screen Film Festival and have talkback sessions following each screening of the official EON films with various guests and the audience. My favorite recommendation was when you both talked about going back and reading all the Fleming books. There is a rich world and inner life of Bond to discover and discuss. Looking forward to more of your excellent content to come! Thank you both!

Very cool to see Head of Section back in action! We’ve missed you Joe! After seeing the thumbnail I think most of us probably thought that you guys were going to talk about 007 ideas how to reboot the actual franchise - but nope. Your suggestions were all terrific. It’s natural always to wane a little bit in interest once a new film comes and goes. Especially now - when there is really nothing on the horizon - (and after seeing Barbara’s comments nothing may be on the horizon for quite a while!) I find that consuming Bond related stuff also keeps the fire alive - Whether it’s looking at old spy shows like Man From Uncle or some similar style spy films like Bourne or the Mission Impossible Series. Today there was a Fantastic new trailer to MI 7 along with another potential spy franchise called The Gray Man that are based on some great books and which also looks promising. All of these always come back to Bond though. I’ve been a fan since I was a little kid in the 60’s and although it always goes up and down It NEVER goes away. Outside of my family - James Bond has been the one constant thing that I’ve loved in my life for as long as I can remember. And I bet most fans feel the same way! Next we need a real REBOOT IDEAS video from you and the gang - it looks like EON actually legitimately may need some help with where to go next - and I bet we here in The Bond Community can come up with TONS of ideas!

I love the Fleming novels. I have the complete matching paperback set I got off Amazon that I actually read and also all of the collector ones released from Folio Society. I’ve also read all of the continuation books except maybe 1 or 2 I own but I haven’t got to yet. It’s hard to find time to read lately though because unlike a video or a movie that I can pause and come back to later if need be, I hate to put down a book once I’ve started reading. Lately I’ve been on a kick of rewatching the previous films in the series. I also love to come on KZbin and watch content like this about Bond. I used to play the 007 trivial pursuit game with my son but he has too many other things he’d rather do now that he’s older and about to graduate high school. My other kids that are still at home are only 1 and 5 so they are a little young to fully enjoy Bond. Although, I will say that my 5 year old will recognize something like a song I’m listening to and say “that’s James Bond!”. It warms my heart and makes me so proud (lol).

Good motivation for staying on top of Bond. #5, driving, is strong in me. Sometimes just the fact that you drop into your car, and the roof, and hit the road. Just 100 feet down the street and those good feelings start. Combined with some good music it can't be beat. If you can join up with a road rally...oh, baby. #3, reading is so true. When I look at the old covers of the Fleming novels the nostalgia hits me. When rereading it seems like the first time again. Those books seem so special. That takes me back to sneaking the library copies into the house as a kid. Their look and that old pulp paper smell just can't be beat. #1, is one of the best but is infrequent these days. It is time to start my own get togethers.

@@sharp52092 As true as that might be, for me Barbara and the creative department have hit such rock bottom, it literally can't get (much) worse. Craig says he had always wanted to kill off Bond. He did, in more than one way. Congratulations, mission accomplished.

@@TheBondExperience Thanks, I really appreciate your kind words. I've never dared to tell this to anybody, but seeing NTTD for the first time really did kill something inside of me. It was like they were ripping 20+ years of my life out of my chest with that ending. There's much healing to be done and when time has come, I will resort to your tips on how to fall in love with Bond again. Also I'm gonna binge watch Roger Moore-Bonds at some point.

@bob simmonds Agreed. Fan entitlement and gate keeping are so tiresome. Makes me not very sympathetic to there complaining.

Excellent show guys and it's great to see Joe D back again! 7. Just came back Cuba. Although they never filmed there it's been a Bond location many times. 6. Don't drink spirits but I love champagne! 5. I have 3 playlists with Bond music, Bond inspired music and spy music that I listen to while driving. 4. Being JB, TBE, QoH etc. I have the auto downloads set. 3. #flemingreadingchallenge! 2. I watch all the Bond movies (almost all) at least once a year! 1. The 2 Bond events I attended , the Gather-all and the Spyscape museum were great! Bonus; My inspiration is doing something new action oriented. In the last year I learned how to ride a motorcycle, zip-lined, scuba dived and flew in a hang-glider.

The first bond film i saw in the theatre was quantum, after I saw all of them on dvd. The first one I ever saw was the living daylights. Favs are FRWL and Casino Royale. Least favs NSNA and AVTAK. I think the series should continue to evolve and give original takes on the character rather than replicate the past, we've got 40 years of bond films that roughly already do what people are asking. Imagine if goldeneye wasn't updated to fit the 90s after a 6 year gap, Imagine if moore lacked the comedy and camp to his films, imagine if connery just replicated what was portrayed in the novels. A throwback "traditional" bond would still be highly enjoyable but the direction casino royale after replacing brosnan makes me so excited for another original take on the character

Listening to you guys is another fantastic way to enjoy my passion for Bond. I have friends who loves Bond too, but not at my level and I miss that a little bit. I fill that empty space with you guys, Calvin, Jeroen, etc. I am Spanish and recently I discovered a Spanish Bond webpage and podcast that organize meetings in Madrid, they hire a cinema to watch one of the old movies and then go to have lunch or dinner together... Maybe I could go to one of those sometime in the future. I really appreciate your videos, David and Joe. After this pandemic, and the weird experience that was NTTD (I love 80% of the movie, and hate that awful ending), I feel a little bit disconnected from Bond. Your videos has helped me a lot to feel my passion for Bond coming back.

Wasn’t exactly what I thought this video was going to be about when I clicked. I thought it was going to be ways to reboot the franchise now that Craig’s arc is done. Personally I would love for them to take Bond back to the 60’s. Less tech, more spy and espionage, but still action and locations etc. Also I do agree with listening to bond music while driving. I also enjoy certain tracks while going for a run.

Ah yes, two buddies talking Bond. Had not thought about the content of the video in such a clear light but yes, making a cocktail and driving while listening to a Bond track (Back Seat Driver - every single time) do recreate the links that might have shamefully lapsed. Another for me is perusing my collection, the marketing material (posters, lobby cards) from the films.

I’m really into Fleaming books, into James Bond from books, where Bond feels like real human, with feelings, with pain, even with love (like in Moonraker) but not a family guy:D i don’t know if that makes sense all of my wishes😅 I would love to see that kind of Bond)) And of course #HenryCavillFor007 (he will need to lose weight)

I got the feeling Fleming's Bond wanted to settle down. He contemplates proposing to Vesper, lives with Tiffany and talks about having children with Tracey [he tells her father they might need help when children arrive] and then he of course becomes a father unknowingly to Kissy. I felt Craig captured the 'human' aspect of Bond that Fleming sketched out very well.

Let's not just reboot our appreciation for Bond. Let's reboot Bond itself. 001: For King and Country. In 1909, amidst rising tensions in Europe and growing unrest in the British colonies, King Edward VII fears for the future of the empire and the future of his family. On his deathbed, he commissions the establishment of MI6, an experimental military intelligence agency tasked to protect the empire. We follow the first double agent on his missions as he both sneaks and rampages through British India, Prussia, Austria-Hungary, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and Cyprus. The name's not Bond, and we don't know his drink of choice. It's time to meet 001. This would give us everything we miss about Bond. Exotic locales. Old-fashioned spycraft. A completely new character that is Bond-like in his ability to get the job done, but with his own unique backstory and personality. Doing a period piece is probably too big of a risk for this to ever get made, but a man can dream.

Shocked to hear that you LIKED the ending of Ozark. I hated it and thought it was unworthy of the show itself…subjectivity folks, glad you got to enjoy that ending lol
