Jeni, you are kind of like Jamerrill Stewart who does big batch cooking for her family of 9. I love watching you and her both even though I don’t cook for that many people, I can still get ideas and fix it to fit how many I cook for. 💚💚💚

Hi Sara. Thank you for your encouragement and your lovely compliment (Jamerrill is such a sweet and talented lady). Try double batch cooking and freeze your leftovers, that way you can save some money on buying larger quantities of ingredients ;-)

When my kids were home I'd cook all the hamburger (mince) with onion and garlic, scoop 2 1/2 cups into a freezer bag (equals 1lb uncooked. Life saver for after work cooking.

@@ritawilliamson9387 Oh you're welcome ☺️ It looked so good I really wanted to try it! When I googled the shopping for it though it looked like 10-14 days to get one! I did a little more research though and the plant is native to central and south America so I thought they might have some at either a Mexican or perhaps El Salvadoran market or grocery store, the kind that has produce and not just specialty canned and bottled goods. They won't call it chokos though. I guess chayote squash is pronounced chocho. Good luck finding some if you try to make the Papa Surprise. Apparently this little squash is something of a superfood. Supposed to be really good for you.

Lots of people like to blanch their veggies before freezing them but I don't bother. I just wash and peel them and make sure they are in sealed bags or containers. The veggies will defrost and be softer than fresh veg but because I'm cooking with them, it doesn't matter that they are a little bit softer. It actually makes the cooking time quicker as well.

Hi Jenny, are the prices of mince ground beef also as here in the Netherlands doubled in prices, i paid for 1 kg 1000 gram now 15 euro's. sounds crazy but its not normal, normaly it is 5 euro
@TheBonellFamily
@TheBonellFamily Жыл бұрын
Hi Yvonne. The prices here have definitely increased!!!!!! I find it best to use what I call "filler foods" to help bulk up meals - tinned tomatoes, lentils, choko, potatoes, pastas and rice. Helps them go just that little bit further.
