They're looking better little by little Nigel! I love the smell of Douglas Fir trees. They are the trees we had as our Christmas trees for many years... Lisa

Hello Nigel I read that like pine and yew you should prune in early summer and also remove old needles to get more buds. Happy new year Kennet

Here in western Oregon, USA the mighty Douglas Fir grows abundantly. I've got a few small ones in bonsai pots. Your tutorial will be very helpful for training them. Thank you.

Hi Nigel, great videos as allways, hopefully, joining you soon on KZbin soon, been trying to make videos, 10 years later fingers X

you put a photo in at 15:03 which has two boulder peaks amongst the tops of the firs. This would make an interesting composition for a bonsai fir forest with the two peaks peaking above.

It's amazing to me. When you got those trees I was thinking, "How do you deal with those branches"? Slowly I'm starting to understand what you are doing :-)

Sorry about that Nigel. Accidentally deleted my comment. Think I read in the notification they were kept inside? Surprising. Granted, the pots are all pretty shallow. I've got two junipers, a hinoki cypress, and a dwarf Alberta spruce roughing it outside this winter. Guess we'll see how they do
