Hey guys I am here because I am looking for help for an exam which is coming up in a week which is based on a novel that we (the students do not know). However, my university professor spilled some information on the text, mainly that the novel or a certain chapter of the novel is set to play in a house/appartment on 89/Lamberton (street), which seems to be a very specific type of information if you ask me. If anyone out there happens to have read a novel which included this address I would be thankful if you could leave a short reply under this comment, stating the title and author of the novel. Thanks a lot in advance and have a nice weekend 😊 and to those who are also in the midst of writing exams: Good luck 👍

I been hearing a lot of mixed reviews for the Fourth Wing, and what I’m getting is that people who love romance stories but don’t usually read fantasy stories are more inclined to like it. As a person who reads mostly fantasy and hate most romance books cause of tropes, I could already tell I wouldn’t like it😭
@jezeldjones
@jezeldjones Жыл бұрын
Im a huge fantasy fan and loved this. It really subverts usual tropes and the world building is so authentic. The thoughts of the main character genuinely permeated me soul. Yes, there’s enemies to lovers, but it’s more about the protagonist letting go of all she knows to be true rather than just ‘falling for a guy’. I can’t remember life before Fourth Wing.

@@ritika9958 Honestly I felt the same, but it was comforting to know that the book was in the same universe and that even though there were new characters, and familiar ones, the story grabbed me just the same as the trilogy. While Jurdan is mentioned in this book, the characters in The Stolen Heir are just as interesting but have a new relationship dynamic to delve into. This is more Fae focused and less human, but I found myself quickly falling for the characters and seeing myself in them regardless. It may not have Jurdan, but it is a continuation of the Elfhame story and is well worth the read. Oak is in it, and he’s in the prior trilogy so there’s still a comfortable familiarity about it. It’s really very good. And I have a feeling that Jurdan will make an appearance in the sequel- don’t quote me on that, but it would make sense.

I read The Bell Jar shortly after I read Heather Clark’s biography of Plath, Red Comet. Highly recommend Red Comet, but it is a commitment. It aims to be a definitive biography of Plath and its relation to her art. So, not only is it massive, it is also not self-contained. It helps to read selections from her Collected Poems, The Bell Jar, and some of her stories as they are discussed. Reading The Bell Jar within the context of her life made her character more interesting for me than just a witty, demented Holden Caulfield in fashionable dresses.

If you like pirate fantasy you should check out Tress of the Emerald Sea! It’s a part of the Cosmere universe but it totally works as a standalone book. PS: I really like your videos :)

My favorite of the year is the new book of Stuart Tuton. He is the author of the 7 death of Evelyn Hardcastle and I just loooove how he writes

I think my favorite books this year is between the Black Company series (Glen Cook) or A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Honorable mention to Wrong Place Wrong Time for having probably the most exciting premise so far.

Do I spot a fellow Dutchie among the booktubers? 👀 The Bell Jar also blew my mind btw. I think it’s such a good insight in how depression feels and progresses. Also: Sylvia Plath’s word’s are so concise, nothing is out of place. I also read The Bell Jar and Room of One’s Own this year and in that spirit I’d like to reccomend ‘A Year of Magicial Thinking’ by Joan Didion. I think you might like that one, if you haven’t read it already.

As long as Jude and Cardan get a mention, you know I'm gonna be here for it! (Literally the only one I've read 😁)

I really loved Bitterthorn, it was super atmospheric, probably a new all time favourite for me! Also the love story was subtle and intimate... true that it had a great potential with what went on in the castle, the writer could have taken just a bit more time to exploit it more. Now I'm reading The Marquise of Darkness by Catherine Hermary-Vieille, the life-story of a french marquise from the XVII century called Marie-Madeleine d'Aubray. It is no fantasy but I really love it. After this I was planning to read The serpent and the wings of night, I can't wait

i liked a lot of new releases this year (yellowface, the daydreams, etc) but my favorite was the force of such beauty by barbara bourland. it's about this princess who attempts to escape, and we see her entire life leading up to that escape. it was amazing and a book i still think about now - highly recommend

my favorite book this year, and probably the best book I’ve ever read-is Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. it’s brilliantly human. I recommend everyone read it !

I read Sylvia Plath's Collected poems- some good ones definitely, but she's not for a poetry newbie. I found quite a few to be pretty obscure and difficult...big talent though, for sure!

I'm an only fantasy and historical fiction reader, have read 14 books so far and the best book so far has been Our Violence Ends by Chloe Gong to the point that it's tied with the Six of Crows duology. Idk how but she did it

I looooove letters to a young poet so much, i didn’t even finish it yet because it’s just too precious and i want to keep it for special moments - (in the sense of moments in which i feel in a certain mood, in order to fully enjoy it if that makes sens)

Amazing recs as always! Can't wait to read hell bent. My only 5* this year is the Burning God, the final book in the poppy war series (which you would also love).

The expression on your face when you said “I am getting closer to turning my room into that of an old lady” was hilarious 😂 Also, this was the first video I have watched by you… and pretty sure we are literary twins 👯‍♀️!!! Yay!! I agree with everything you said about books we have both read!! Thank god!!

I just got back into reading recently. I used to read a lot as kid/teenager, but as life got in the way, I stopped. Because of my new job, I was able to pick up books again. I just finished the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. It was amazing. I saw a movie clip on tiktok and was hooked by the concept of the thoughts of man being broadcasted into visual and audibal Noise and this dystopian environment. The book dives into war and manipulation and love and deep friendships and pain. I could not put the books down. I know it isn't really your typical style, but I've been recommending them to anyone who will listen to me.
