Since you'd prefer not to read any massive novels in the coming days (weeks?), might I suggest trying some classic short stories by two of the greatest short fiction authors of all time: Ray Bradbury and Shirley Jackson? Both are famous for their novels, but their short story output was even better (and more prolific). 'The Stories of Ray Bradbury' (originally published in 1980) is brilliant and includes 100 of his best stories. 'The Lottery and Other Stories' by Jackson (originally published in 1949) includes 23 of her best stories.

oh my god PLEASE the starless sea is probably one of my favourite books ever- i never really finished the night circus, but i did finish the starless sea and i was like completely out of it for days. its one of those books where youre just reading and when someone else calls you and you look up and youre just disorientated because you were so immersed in the book and im aware that im rambling. but i just. loved the starless sea. so much. i feel like anyone who loves reading would love the starless sea. the secret history is also a really cool book but im pretty sure that goes without saying-

Your Secret Santa did such a great job! It is hard to say what mood of reading I am in, I guess maybe a reread mood? I literally have all these rereading plans lined up for myself at the moment, and I even planned out what I am starting the new year with. Aka a reread of Gideon the Ninth, A Dowery of Blood and Plain Bad Heroines, in that order. Oh, that and manic energy books. I can't explain it to you but whatever that means. I suspect that the Murderbot Diaries may fit it which is partly why I am looking forward to finally getting a copy of All Systems Red. I am curious to see your thoughts on The Starless Sea. It is not without its flaws but it is one of my favourites and it is definitely a winter dreamy read. If you want another winter read and interested in reading some poetry I would have to recommend Watering the Soul by Courtney Peppernell. I would describe as soft winter poetry, and I absolutely loved this collection.

The Midnight Lie was great! I’m reading the sequel right now. Did you read The Winner’s Curse trilogy? Midnight Lie is set in the same world. It’s *kind of* a sequel to the series but not really. It’s not required to read Winner’s Curse trilogy beforehand, but I think readers would appreciate certain things more. The audiobooks for it are amazing, I love the narrators voice! I flew through them in about a week.

Hey Luna, I’m from the netherlands as well. So our current situation is that we are in a harsh lockdown due to the omicron variant. This is (as far as I know) mostly preventative, and around the 14th I believe we’re getting more information about if the lockdown will be lifted. Also, I don’t know when you travel here, but the previous years shown us that traveling during the summer (I would say june-august) has been more easy to and from the netherlands. I really hope you’re able to start your course here in 2022! 🤗

Most definitely reading C&P has become a private joke on this channel. You know the other day I heard a professional say something about it and he described the plot as the murder of a landlady, which ofc it isn't. Maybe someone can help me. So i am reading a book Midnight sun. And it's over 700 pages, and also because i know the Twilight movies through and through, i think i am kinda bored. It took me al long time to get this far, i am now at 350 pages i guess. But i am not excited about it so much. So the easy option is, just put it aside, it's okay. But i feel like i can not do that, because then, the 350 pages have been a waste of time. And i have i think 4 other books open and not finished, so i really want to finish this/ a book. I just don't want to give up, because then i feel like a failure, and like it was a waste of time. But it would be better to just stop reading that book and read one i do like a lot. Can anyone comment?
@TheBookLeo2 жыл бұрын
stopping after 350 pages is only a waste of time if you see finishing the books as the most important thing of reading (instead of the reading itself)! so if you're not enjoying it i would just put it aside and spend time reading books that you actually enjoy!
