I incorrectly identified the Model of this speaker as the R1280T. It is the R1280Ts Speaker. I believe the difference is that the Ts has a subwoofer output and the retail is $109.00 without the 10% off coupon.
@Omgiamsotriggered Жыл бұрын
Yes this is the R1280Ts. For anyone that didnt watch the video;there is also a R1280DB(s). The main difference between the two is that the DB(s) has bluetooth, optical connectivity and coaxal cable connectivity. Basically they are identical components underneath but DB(s) is aimed at wireless listening and mostly connecting it to TV or a record player, and 1280T doesnt have bluetooth and only has RCA connectivity, so its sort of aimed solely as PC speakers or TV speakers that u plug and just use as that. The difference between DB and T models is about 30-40$ in DB's favour, because due to extended connectivity, so if u dont need bluetooth and just gonna use PC speakrs just get the T model. The letter s in either Ts or DBs just stands for having an external output hole for subwoofer plug in. Deffo IMO always get the S variant because Edifier offers T5 sub for about 130-150$ which u can always upgrade with if u decide so in the future.

You mentioned headphone jack. I take it if I have a headphone jack dongle for my iPad Pro I can connect these speakers to get some awesome sound? The iPad speakers are super nice but when the new one hits with that Super XDR display, gonna be looking for some speakers to do the movies justice on that screen. 🤓

They DO come in black.. AND white.. Well, at least the DB's and DBs's do.. Also, your pair is a 1280Ts, not a 1280T.. difference being the "s" models also come with a Subwoofer out 3.5mm jack (and the spatial sound effect.. which nobody needs) There are 4 models of these speakers: 1280T - Standard set with 2 RCA analog stereo inputs (the two sources will play at once if they're connected, as there's no input selector) 1280Ts - Has a sub output jack and the 2 analog RCA input sets are also "connected in parallel" as is the case with the standard set. 1280DB - Adds BT connectivity over the standard set and Optical (TosLink) + Coax digital inputs (has independent RCA inputs - volume button also serves as an input selector switch) 1280DBs - Same as the DB but has the extra SUB output jack. None of the above sounds the same and all have different low starting frequency 1280T - starts at 75Hz 1280Ts - starts at 52Hz 1280DB - starts at 55Hz 1280DBs - starts at 51Hz

Because they sound great!! I've never had a pair but after watching a few reviews I ordered a pair of the R1850DB'S (BLUETOOTH) They'll be great for listening to music 🎵🎶 and watching movies etc, And perfect for my laptop as the built in speakers suck lol But yeah every since I got into bookshelf stereo's (AIWA) I never wanted big giant speakers again, these will be perfect when I move into my new apartment, I got plenty of toys to use these with

Not as much bass given that there isn't a subwoofer. But in my opinion after having both, the edifier's are absolutely better in sound quality

@ natskar thanks for the reply man. This was 2 years ago and I’ve upgrade since then. I’m running m-audio studiophile dx4s that the last owners of the house we moved into left with a presonus eris sub 8 I just got. This setup runs circles around the Klipsch in every regard. Also, how would the m-audios compare to the edifier? Also, the DX4s I have are the predecessors to the current AV40s if that helps.
@natskar8 ай бұрын
@@alright272 the dx4’s are pretty solid, especially if you have a sub to help with bass too. They are good for listening not just monitoring (in terms of monitoring they aren’t the best). But the dx4’s are a good pick I’d keep em

@natskar well oops I’ve been using them for some basic monitoring more recently but they’re all I have. So how would they compare to the edifiers? Would the edifiers be better or comparable or different?
@natskar8 ай бұрын
@@alright272 Well I mean for basic monitoring they’re not bad just not professionally or critically. Compared to the edifiers (at least to my ears) I couldn’t say one is better than the other tbh. I do like my edifiers more for the TV though as they are better for far-field, listening and near-field listening, but the m-audios are likely better only on the desk and have balanced inputs which is nice to have

I just got these speakers with a T5 sub. I also got a Topping E30 DAC hooked up. I noticed that you use a Schiit headphone amp with your DAC. My question is will a headphone Pre amp make a difference to sound quality? Or will it just serve as volume control? Also does the Edifier DSP compromise the DAC output quality?
@haon2205 Жыл бұрын
If only edifier had them separately amped for this model... as opposed to built-in amps. Power cords can be too short and inconvenient sometimes

@Omgiamsotriggered Жыл бұрын
Depends on your room size, if u get them with the T5 subwoofer and your room is small-midsized they should be alright. They cost 100$ so dont expect high end sound but for they price they offer insane sound. Also consider DBs version if u plan on connecting to tv with optical or coaxal cable since Ts dont have it, and DBs also has bluetooth. Whatever u get make sure its either a Ts or DBs cuz T or DB without the s dont have subout hole.

Nice review and helpful. I have the r1280dbs coming to me in 2 days. I was especially interested in your comments about the base response (without a subwoofer) of these speakers. I've seen many reviews and the comments about the base has been mixed. I have a subwoofer available but I will be very interested to hear my new speakers without plugging in the sub first. They will be mounted on my desktop. Thanks again for your review.

what do u think about the bass without a subwoofer?
@davideberhardt49772 жыл бұрын
@@benpeaches910 It's good. I added the subwoofer a couple days after hooking the 1280dbs speakers but I have the sub volume pretty low (I live in an apartment). I think the main benefit of having the sub active is that I have the frequency response dial set at about the middle so the main speakers get some of the bass signal. Without the sub, I think the bass response is ok but not great. I would get the speakers first, then if you're not happy the T5 subwoofer can be added later for a very modest price (around $130). I have been very pleased with the sound quality of the Eidifiers! I like to listen to "Godsmack - Drum Battle HD" on KZbin to test the sound!
