I was so curious to see how this would play out. This one was fun to watch. You are exactly right. This being a split, I did think it would have been the opposite way. The Broad Branch was a late sub for a rye that I realized was distilled in Poland, so had to retract. The Broad Branch reminds me of an Oregon Spirit BiB single barrel rye I had some time ago (Mine had a very woodsy, evergreen outdoor vibe to it). I remember Phil being a big fan of his Oregon Spirit bottle. Another great day in the books...Cheers!!

Thanks so much for sharing these with us, Russ! We didn't find any banana on that New Riff when you shared it with us for a 5 Sip Friday earlier this year, but it showed up big time this time around. Excellent head to head, and we love your reasons for submitting these whiskeys. This well-rounded matchup reflected so many days in the first round. The new riff malted rye is one of my faves, im on my 3rd bottle and i hardly ever kill bottles

We enjoyed it so much during our first blind taste of it on 5 Sip Friday earlier this year. No idea why it didn't thrill us during this particular tasting.
