Just a thought Art, Is it worth annealing before dent repair on old instruments like this? I wondered if that might lessen the chance of the brass cracking? Can't wait to see this Cornet finished, it already looks beautiful.

That is good thinking. That might help on some of the dents. I would have to balance annealing with other issues such as burning the plating, having to unsolder some joints because you cannot anneal near soft solder joints, and softening the metal too much.

Sorry, but it is a family heirloom and not for sale. I had to take a break on working on this instrument, but I should be finishing it very soon.
