@@REDxFROG Very true. I should have been clearer, I was noting that the weakness of lego in general is the difficulty in including triangles for strength and therefore things have to be somewhat over-engineered as a result. The break was the pegs not being strong enough to hold the stacked parts together given what happened. If I have enough suitable lego myself I'd try to make some parts of this amazing build just to see if I could!

But the real systems don’t lift the while crane when adding new segments they only lift the top then pick up the new segment and then put it in the gap between the top and the rest. Still a very cool system with lego.

That is amazing. It's a nice change of scenery from looking at the golf course background. :P I loved also how you edited the fail. It was cool and funny to see that. I did say an audible "Oh no" when it fell. I'm assuming the counterweight is what caused it to fall backwards.
@TheBrickWallTeam
@TheBrickWallTeam 5 жыл бұрын
Great condition. Yes, the counterweight and poor hook design. The chain was too big for the hook. After the modification and additional crane operator training the process was und3r control. Now I do appreciate crane operator' s skill level and will never stay under the load. Thank you for your support.

Amazing! How much of the mechanism works for disassembly and prepping the tower crane for the next job?
@TheBrickWallTeam
@TheBrickWallTeam 5 жыл бұрын
Excellent question, the crane can disassemble itself. It does it in reverse, First - hold the bottom section with yellow grabbers, second- use pins in the lift mechanism and insert them into the second section, third - raise the tower until it detached from the first section, 4- remove the first section out, 5- lower the tower and continue.... Unfortunately I did not film the disassemble process , it will make video too long. great question. thank you.

I FINALLY tracked down and bought (and finished!) the 7905 City Tower Crane set, and immediately became dissatisfied with the single point of motion on the lift and no motorization. So now I have the Rough Terrain and Mobile Cranes, and after building both of them, the project will be a total redesign to get the boom traveler moving, and get power on all three axes of the 7905. YOU, Sir, are an inspiration to this tired old 68-year-old man. Thank you.

What a Great design ( shame about the tower sections not locking ) Amazing model shows what is possible with the right Lego and motors and controls. Have a great Lego Christmas Brick Wall.

@@avic6069 You may need some additional parts as the set uses relatively small number of elements, try it out.
