This is so cool! You could hang a rail in the hollow part and hang your saddleblankets there, and with a basket on the bottom, and then put it on wheels and then you pretty much have a tack room on wheels!

When building it, I would suggest using glue and screw it together. Brads are fine for trim, but I wouldn't use them for structural purposes, especially if you want to sit on this.

Just what I was looking for. As someone else said.. think about using at least some Glue with the Brad nails. Drill pilot hole first if you use screws as well. I will tack it together with brads.. and glue, then put in screws. Great video Thanks.

I love this I can put it in my living room so when I'm going to a show I can put all my stuff in one area of my house so I don't leave anything, before I made this I had to do a make shift saddle stand and it was two chairs put together

would this saddle stand hold a western saddle ?? Thanks ! Great video !!
@BudgetEquestrian7 жыл бұрын
Hi Anchor Ministries :) Yes, You can build this to hold a western saddle. I would probably build it to be a little bit longer, but it is sturdy enough to hold a western saddle.

If it only had the hooks on one side then it could be set flush against the wall takimg up less space. Otherwise it looks great!

The saddest part is unless you already have the lumber laying around; in order to buy 1x10's, etc... it is cheaper to buy one... Aaaaargh!!!

Is this strong enough to hold the weight of the saddle and me sitting on it? (I am about 120lbs)

The rungs must have been 32” rather than 30” as mentioned in the video. The width of the end pieces are 1” each .

Can I sit on them or no

This one? no. You need something very structurally sound made with screws and the feet shown on the saddle stand over. The bottom shelf would not just be decorative, but would be screwed to the "tombstone" ends (it's the style of ends she used). Then it would hold the weight of a saddle and average sized person. Must use Screws! and attach everything together for stability of the stand. Many also have a centerpiece at the top that is vertical instead of horizontal as she placed all of the 1 x 3's where the spine of the horse would be so the stand ends can be very secure as well.
