I enjoyed them dancing this! They both have excellent musicality and give correct dynamics to the music. She has lovely style and he has athleticism and nobility of line. Lovely to watch them.

Quite beautiful. Both. Thank you. She Made me think of a gazelle, very alert, easily flying. He Is also great💕🎈 dancer. This Tchaikovski Will remain an immortal piece💕🎈

Enjoyed this very much. As always Hallberg was so energetic and clean, musically and technically. He really looked like he was enjoying himself. She not so much. Her dancing was beautiful don’t get me wrong, she looked like she just wanted it to be over. Who really knows what was going on in her life during that time. So glad I got to see this.❤️👍

Have to agree with you there; sadly, she looked like she was struggling a bit towards the end and really wanted to get off the stage. She also seemed to throw herself into the second fish dive before he was quite ready to catch her.

With just a few faults while adapting as a couple in the beginning, the rest is perfect. She still has the original look of a Balanchine ballerina, which, as time passes by, is still the most becoming one for a ballet dancer, Their technique is impecable. Wonderful!!!!!

Kowrowski is so very beautiful. She has the best port de bras out of anybody I've seen at NYCB. She brings the hands full out and flared like the Russian port de bras and her arms are so stretched & sinuey. Beautiful dancers. Hallberg just flew in his grand jetes. Thank God it's on tape.

They are both wonderful dancers, and I loved seeing them together, even though there were a few bobbles. He is strong with great leaps and turns, and she is the quintessential Balanchine ballerina, with those long limbs and beautiful port a bras. She began to run out of gas towards the end and, was it just me, or did anyone else notice he struggled get his arms locked in that final lift running offstage? 🤷🏼‍♀️💕🥰👏👏👏

I hadn't noticed the lift at the end but you're right. It seemed to be performed a little too late, as they were moving offstage, so that the audience never got the chance to see the full lift, unfortunately.

Yes, nice (he, impeccable) but 1) the foot not flex to greet, darling, and 2) she doesn't do the fouettes Mr. B. Specifically asked to do. The rest, pretty Sí, muy lindos (él impecable) pero 1) el piecito estirado para saludar, querida y 2) ella no hace el fouette que expresamente pidió Mr. B. para la coda. Lo demás, bonito.

Okay y'all...here we go. First of all I love Maria and not just because she is from my hometown. She is lovely in nearly everything she does but those who have read my comments know how much I love a ballerina who can dance greatly and not have her shoes announcing her arrival and exit from stage. Her shoes are "WAY TOO LOUD." And Mr. B would be appalled. That I know for a fact! I have already mentioned past divas who never made any noise...ever and young, know nothing, know it all, try to rebuke me for saying what I know because I personally witnessed them in action very often. Maria is one of the newer ballerinas, after Suzanne Farrell, Meryl Ashley, Colleen Neary, Patricia McBride, Debra Austin, etc. There are many others of course but these are just a few of New York City Ballet divas of yesterday who were real true ballerinas who would rather cut off their feet then go on stage and have the floating on a cloud effect made null and void by their shoes not being broken in enough. This is the first time I have seen Maria do Tchaikovsky's pas de deux. And again, although she is lovely usually, always, here she is, for me, only okay. That is my opinion which I am entitled to, just like you who may disagree have yours. Though she does quite well with her beautiful long legs and arms, her lines are always impeccable, of course, watching her here I felt uncomfortable as if she was going to make a major mistake at any moment or fall. David is also nice but I have seen better. He gave me the impression that he was going to barely make it. He did but I was worried. And for those who think I am harsh, you obviously have never read some of the New York City dance critics do their hatchet job on these artists. No, I am not a New York City dance critic but I do have an opinion and can compare the best with others who may want to be the best. Unless you have something concrete to write about what I have written you might keep it to yourself. Because you will not change my mind!

Hallberg is very good. I am disappointed by Kowroski. This isn't the role for her. I've seen her much better in other roles.

@@nan2kaye It seemed to lack flow, energy, and confidence. Her wrists weren't that good either. Balanchine wasn't a stickler for classical wrists, but Kowroski's wrists were downright floppy at times. Also loads of travel on her fouettes. She probably would have been better doing the original change leg fouettes choreography. For a really great version of this role, look at Evgenia Obraztsova. Her partner is far inferior to Hallberg, and they slow down the choreography for him, but her solo parts are excellent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6imnnRjrdKAa5o

I love Kowroski but agree that this kind of ballet is not her forte. Hallberg was very good. However, the gold standard in my opinion is the McBride/Baryshnikov version here on youtube. They are magnificent! The male variation is stupendous and McBride is pure Balanchine style.

The Russians so much better at this pas de deux, although David Hallberg is amazing, but without the incredible ballon of the Russian men.
