What wasn't mentioned was "seat of the trousers" soiling issues and types of kitty litter. Unless you keep a Persian's hygiene area short or short-ish, poop will stick to them. You'll have to check their rears everyday, unless you don't mind a poopy bottom on your bed or furniture. And, no, they can't clean themselves of a bowl movement that is stuck to them like silly putty wrapped in hair. As for kitty litter, my cat's breeder recommended we do not use clumping litter because it will stick to them, so there is that. I keep my cat's fur "short down" but it grows fast! Funny enough, he hates having soiled himself and will tell me. With his sweet dollface and lovely eyes, he paws at my arm, then quickly turn around as if to say, "Hey lady, I've got this situation you need to take care of right now!" He's got me well trained!

Hey mam.. I just bought a new cat.. I have some questions.😅 Firstly, do they live 2-3 days alone in same room? Also, does they have so much maintains? Lastly, do they jump and run too much when they grow up?

I had a Persia exotic. He was not very vocal, slept a lot, naturally grumpy. But overall very sweet cat. Very disciplined. He was very elegant.Died after 5 years due to Respiratory Problems.

Omg, mine is! He wakes me up every morning talking! I was never a cat person. Our little girl at 6 years old was begging for a cat! That’s when we got Oliver. He’s the most laid back cat ever!

It’s true what you said. Persians are high maintenance cats. If you have financial issues i would not recommend them as yes they do require dental care, and also i have to have mines regularly shaved down as he develops mats once the coat is fully grown. He also gets easily overheated and this makes them very uncomfortable. You need to clean the eye stains regularly as they buildup very fast. They do mew a lot. They are very cute but as i have heard from other owners not all are lapcats. Lot of them don’t like to be picked up.

I have had 4 persians. Three now and one years ago. None of them have been very vocal. Also, if you get a doll face persian, they will not have the breathing and respiratory issues like ones with smooshed in faces

I'm pretty sure my cat, Priscilla, has some Persian in her DNA. She's pretty vocal, which I love. I'm positive she has seasonal allergies: her eyes get red off and on throughout the end of spring through fall. She also has problems with her ears. She used to get "cat acne," which were black spots on her face. I found out this is a problem specific only to Persian cats. Also, she often has issues with eye discharge (she isn't ever sick, though...she just gets discharge occasionally). She is highly dependent on me. She hates being left for more than a few hours at a time. I've only left her overnight once but had my neighbors check up on her during that time. Anyway, I want to see if a DNA test for cats will tell if she has some Persian in her background. This video was very helpful. If Priscilla has some Persian in her DNA, I now know things to look out for like dental problems. She does shake her head a lot...esp in the summer.

Unfortunatly you need to get persian early on. You also need to get them fixed by 6 months. They can get easily matted and get gingivitis easy.

we have persian cat, just a random pregnant persian cat roaming around outside and knocking our door everynight looking for food and shelter, the owner abandoned it, then it gave birth to 3 babies and suddenly left our home, the we took care of the 3 babies, they grew healthy and never get sick, furry cats, then when they grew 1 has left, 2 had stayed, both of them got pregnant and give birth of 10 kittens at the same time, out of 10 only 4 have survived, others got sick since birth, now these two mother are very fat and healthy and again pregnant, the 4 kitten are all boys and they are healthy, they dont get sick, we only fed them what we eat, they dont choose, they adopted our environment, never had a problem with them

I don't know if anyone told you but it would be wise to get them spayed. Far to many cats seem like they suffered. There are a lot of free spay and neuter programs. Please don't be apart of the problem.

My mom favorite cat, Love you mom, the only cat we had that I wasn’t s scared of, lol our Persian cat was white with beautiful blue eyes. She had kittens under the couch.and she let us watch her give birth, we had a love place, a little messy at times lol however not really the living room I believe our cat name was Lily yeah they very vocal when they want to eat when they want to come in the room when they want you to pet them.

The white Persian cat I have speaks human. She can clearly say few words, and understand the same. But they speak (repeating) only one word at a time - no sentences.

How could you not mention how much fur they shed? You will be constantly having to collect huge clumps of fur around the house. Your clothes and furniture will be constantly covered in fur and you will spend vast amounts of times vacuming and using lint rollers. The fur they shed is very fine and downy so it does not sweep easily, instead it floats around and sticks to everything like cobwebs. Owning Persian cats is a high maintenance lifestyle but if you can manage the brushing and shedding its so worth their sweet loving cuddles!

I have a Persian cat, she’s the best, she’s friendly and everyone loves her and she likes to be around people but does not like to be held however loves getting pet and brushed. But a problem I faced with her is that she meows so so so much and I don’t know how to stop it, we keep her in the living room at night so she doesn’t wake us up at night, I would love for her to roam around the house and sleep with us but all she does is meow all night long! Does anyone know what to do to get the meowing to stop? Or if I get another cat would she stop so she has someone else to play with?

Why do they have respiratory problems? This is the problem with breeding cats. And people buying from breeders contributing to the problem. A pet is not a toy.

@scootermom17914 ай бұрын
A full bred Ragdoll cat would be a better choice. Their hunting instinct has been bred out of them. With that in mind, a ragdoll has to be kept indoors at all times for its own safety. You can train other cats to leave pet birds alone, but it's not easy. I have 7 birds and 2 cats. One cat is great with the birds. The other isn't. We don't let her in the room when the birds have their out of cage time.

Inactive and vocal? So mine are not persan.
@scootermom17914 ай бұрын
It probably has more to do with their individual personalities. They've historically been known to be inactive and vocal, but there are always going to be exceptions to the rules.

I can't be the only one with an easy going, low maintenance, full of common sense, one-eyed Persian, can I? Should be noted that they are NOT by any means stupid, and can be quite opinionated. My experience has been that, compared to previous cats we lived with, she appears to be more observant concerning our patterns in behaviour, judging them (almost with pity at times) then adapting. Only issue with vid - she only meows a lot on heat; otherwise, she's mute for most of the cat month, mainly using her actions, ears & tail to communicate with me - but she’s much more vocal with my son, often sounding a little critical, like a heckler at a comedy club. Anyhow... partner's work mate was a pedigree Persian (blue-grey) breeder who mentioned to her that a kitten was going to be killed because the breeder saw a financial loss, as she only had one eye & the mother focused solely on the others in her litter. Fair enough with the mother, we thought-ish, but the Breeder's thinking was unacceptable to us as a family. Took her MONTHS (hold up! - please consider how long a day can be with a "WTF 's going on & Where TF am I & What TF is that?" eight-week-old kitten, let alone months of that)- to adapt to us & our odd ways & funky music. BUT...she follows me around like a dog, she's interested in just about everything - especially humming, whirling, flashing, and smoking electricals...and her affections are only limited by us. I mean, we all love her but not like that, right? A great breed for all those who work from home - like myself, are living with long-term illnesses - like myself, but are not immobilized & can still defeat ninjas with a Jamaican patty (oh yes I can!!)...and pretty much any human who doesn't measure relationships by the work put in so much as the outcome.
