This is, without a SINGLE SHADOW of a doubt, the BEST, most HONEST, and in-depth review I have EVER seen on KZbin, NOT just of this new (frankly) POS Tacoma, but also of Toyota as a whole, and their astonishingly quick decline in the race for maximizing profits. I can't recall if the Tacoma was designed (and built) in the US like it's bigger brother Tundra is, but I think this shows Toyota should've stuck to their Japan design studios, engineers, and manufacturing centres, cause this thing stinks of a US domestic truck in regards to the cheapness, cost and corner cutting! My only critique of your review though, is you did not mention the WIDE SPREAD issues with the rear (and front) differentials blowing up, and transmissions, and how Toyota's fix will be to "reprogram" (aka GIMP) your transmission / engine performance to stop it from happening. This truck is honestly such utter TRASH, it definitely makes some of the US competitors look good for a change!

Toyota is rapidly going down the wrong path. Aside from the engine issues that everyone knows about on the Tundra, I have heard complaints of cheap and interior that rattles a lot. I can't wrap my head around what they are thinking. This is what happened with Honda a few years back when they started cheaping out on their amenities and interior and raised their prices. It seem like they have to cheap out on the interior to at least keep the MSRP "reasonable" . 65k for a small truck is absurd, no matter how you cut it. I just bought my wife a 24 4Runner and I hated having to pay 50k. I don't even want to know what they're going to ask for the 25's. In a world where vehicles prices are skyrocketing and quality is going down, I think I will stick with my 14 SIenna and 14 Camaro and be happy that I don't have to pay what current prices are. The unfortunate side of that is that parts for older vehicles are getting more and more expensive and harder to find. It would seem that manufacturers are intentionally trying to force people into the newer overpriced garbage they are producing. As a lifetime Toyota fan, I am extremely disappointed in the direction that Toyota is going. It seriously seems like they have become so reliant on their historical reliability that they think people will pay an exorbitant amount for anything they offer. I think those days are rapidly coming to an end; and if the issues with the Tundra are any indication of what is to come for Toyota, I think you're going to see more and more people leaving in droves and keeping their older cars as long as they possibly can.

I just paid $50K for a '24 4Runner Limited - that's more than the cost of my previous two vehicles put together. But, the alternative was to wait for a '25 4Runner and pay even more for a small displacement turbo engine. Toyota keeps pushing out the release date for the '25 4Runner - I halfway think they know quite well sales will drop off and they're keeping the '24 available as long as they can. BTW take a good look at the data Toyota is pulling off your 4Runner - unless you shut down all the data apps / services (and likely few folks do that) Toyota is pulling location, odometer, driving style (I'm not kidding) and selling that info to insurance companies or data brokers.

Have you seen the hood flutter on the new Lexus GX? $80k and the hood looks like it's going to wrinkle or float off. Lexus is already having to add seals on them I believe to correct it but the fact that it made it all the way to the consumer with obvious fit/finish/"quality" feel issues at that price point is more concerning to me than the issue itself. They've gotten lazy because they know, at least subconsciously, that anything they make (and make look cool, the designers are on a roll) will sell. Now they're risking losing their foundational customers who literally came to them because they wanted the product designed to last forever, not the one designed to look coolest in the fraternity parking lot. Unfortunately for us, our plan was to have a Tacoma TRD pro and a GX Overtrail+ hybrid (when it starts production) and now we're cancelling deposits on both. Two things I immediately hate is the stamped tailgate. My god, it's all too much. And the next HUGE failure, as with the Tundra, is that they deleted the corner step on the rear bumper when the tailgate is down. We use our trucks as trucks, and when the gate is down, you need a step stool to get into the bed, rather than just hiking yourself into it by stepping on the corner of the bumper. Such a dumb feature on a TRUCK! Great video, as always.

My opinion of Toyota has changed over the past couple of months. Quality is heavily compromised at this point across all Toyota products. Even the recent builds of non-facelifted/updated models are seeing quality issues. 4 neighbors who recently purchased have made a couple of visits to the dealership with issues already. Granted some of the visits had to do with poorly built interior plastic components. 3 of those vehicles are built in Japan. Not sure what’s going on, but I’ll keep my 2021 Toyo for a long time and hopefully the brand will get back to making robust, reliable vehicles. Really hope they pay more attention to their core strength. A friend of mine who works there said that part of the issue is that there is an overall disappointment with a good portion of their engineers with the hybridization of several vehicles.
Myself and two friends purchased new 1985 Hilux trucks. All three ate 2.5 qts of oil every 3K oil change. We all contacted the dealer and were told that was within specs.

I had a lot of high tech gear and computer issue problems with a Ford F150 Platinum (2015) and a 2020 GMC AT4 that replaced it. The ford was rear-ended and the sensors and computers never worked after that and I got continual faults no matter what the dealer did. The AT4 engine blew up due to faulty lifters. Thank goodness it was under warranty or it would have cost 10K to fix. So, I sold the AT4 to a dealer and watched a bunch of your videos and ended up with a 2024 4runner TRD Off-Road Premium. I added a mild 1-½ inch leveling kit to the front. Painted and blacked out the silver knobs on the inside and the silver valences and other small mods so it looks very much like a TRD Pro. All that is cosmetic, but I love it. It is simple. Reliable. Easy to operate. When I am in the mountains of NC I often use it in Manual mode which is so smooth and address the gear hunting issue that many complain about. I hope to have it a very long time. Thanks for being honest about that fiasco of a truck. I wish Toyota would bring back the old Toyota quality vehicles instead of the bling and marketing they go out of the way to design in first. Too much "TRD Pro" everywhere. It's like having a neighbor who bought a new car and keeps driving up and down the street pointing to his new car. Floppy hoods become a thing with Toyota in the 2018 Camry. It's annoying as hell. Still has that goofy display "TV". "Normal 8-speed". Nothing normal about that transmission. It's junk and the chance of breaking is above the previous Aisin transmissions. Solenoid packs are expensive. There were a lot of problems when the transmission was in the Camry. Different case, same components. The standard transmissions are falling apart too. Parts are breaking off. Did Toyota fix the front disconnect from breaking under a slight load? Toyota is becoming a gimmick vehicle and not the great old long lasting vehicle. Getting rid of all but a couple of the "TRD Pro" garbage and all that gimmick stuff could have shaved thousands off the truck. Change the oil two to three times as much with that turbo engine. Maintenance is going to be expensive.

Then when I saw the quality and the amount of plastic, I had a meltdown, then when I started seeing all the recalls and the broken transaxles and the engine problems (not to mention Toyota dodging warranty claims), I gave up. I am now the proud owner of a 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2. I paid 52K out the door with a 100,000 mile 8 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. that’s about 20 K under what I would’ve had to pay for a TRD pro. I can’t not even give you one reason to purchase a Toyota Tacoma of this generation. Toyota it was nice knowing you.

I work in insurance, not a third party warranty company but that 8 year "warranty" is basically a third party insurance company that will DENY you on things you thought was covered, bumper to bumper is a bit misleading. I encourage you to get a copy of that policy and it will make your head spin. Anyways.... Good choice. I'm looking at a silverado with a baby duramax. Not in 100 years would I thought I'd look at a chevy but the tundra they have now is meh. Atleast offer a plain Jane v8 like they had pre 2021

@@jmabs5096 Shhhh....He did copious amounts of research, and we don't want him regretting a 'Merrican made product more than he would a Toyo.

@@macdaddyp8437to be fair. The truck he bought was 13k less than this thing.

Especially do the transmission service accordingly. If they offer warranty coverage with fluid exchange program do it. Double coverage. 8 and 10 speeds are having many issues still growing pains on models.

@@robertedwards3822 I couldn’t agree more. I spent my 70 grand on a F150 with coyote V8 and all the trim. Very happy with my new truck. Ford’s systems are better too. Remote start (with push button ignition) works like it should, unlike with Toyota.
