This week, as part of an epic Elise 240 Final Edition road trip, Damian returns his new car to the Lotus factory for a service and some unexpected fun.
Yes that’s right, Lotus rolls out the red carpet for the CarGuys, as its legendary handling expert, Gavan Kershaw, takes us out onto the Hethel test track first in a Series 1 Elise, and then the 240 Final Edition. And you’re coming too!
For any Lotus fan this must surely be dreamland stuff, as the man responsible for some of the best handling Lotus’s in its history, gives TheCarGuys a lesson in car control and compares the first and last Elise’s back to back.
Will this finally make Damian love his Elise? What secrets about the car does Gavan reveal? How does it feel to slide a Series 1 and a Final Edition in the same morning? Just what makes the Lotus Elise so special? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s episode.

Yes, they’ve put something right for someone with a wide public reach for their own PR. The rest of us who bought poor quality, badly made cars Lotus don’t give a stuff about. They have no concept of providing service of any kind and really need to start to realise they need to provide the complete package.

That S1 is beautiful. Maybe its my age (I'm 35) but I find myself more and more drawn to the original Elise and it's low power engine which means you might actually be able to drive it properly flat out on some roads. I've had an S2 Exige cup 240, and now have an S1 racing car which isn't road legal. But there's something about an original 118hp car which would be perfect for a weekend or evening hoon.

@@dickieb2233 The Talbot Lotus Sunbeam was fully developed by Lotus at Hethel. The cars were assembled by Lotus themselves at a facility next door to the Hethel factory on Ludham Airfield. With its world Rally Championship winning status, Lotus running gear and development and assembly history it has every right to enter the gates of Hethel.

This is why I would buy a lotus you want to be treated so special not just a dealership number what drives me mad whether it’s 10 k car or a 900k car to that person it’s a lot of money and so many dealers just like it’s nothing but yet the staff most of them couldn’t write a check for either yet they treat u like crap !!! Lotus needs to be on the ball with things like this and there dealers as this would make me buy one but other than that like egg customers they way they are treated and nothing is to much and gifts etc unreal how they treat you and that’s why I becoming a customer purely of how they treated my pals !!! Plus the cars are amazing

Agree with that, Jj - I hope Emira customers are given a more positive experience than the one I had, but I accept that this may be down to a certain dealer, rather than Lotus itself. Hopefully, as a result of seeing how my experience can taint the buying experience, this is something that Lotus will focus on in the future.
