Feels like an eternity since Carpetbagger went to a museum or road side attraction for some reason. Mostly theme parks lately.

I only wish others were as excited as you, sadly this content gets less views, but I love making it
@nattiedrawsАй бұрын
Exactly. It's one reason I watch less now is cuz he keeps going to the same places and parks repeatedly. I only need to see it once
@umrmech84Ай бұрын
I second that sentiment. I watch other Vlogs for their Theme Park coverage. I watch Jacob because of the new and unusual sites he travels to. Of course, I also read the Atlas Obscura website.
@lonesoul663Ай бұрын
@@TheCarpetbagger I love theme parks too, but getting to see more obscure and different places off the beaten path is admittedly more relaxing than standing in lines all day. Glad you document these unique attractions.

The true charm of this channel is NOT the FOCUS of the episode. It lies in the same loving attention each attraction receives, be it a museum, a natural wonder, a mom and pop roadside or a massive theme park. The Carpetbagger channel is all about exploring fun stuff, as he says every episode. Sounds like he's ready to switch up a bit as well.🤠🎄

02:11 The Saban building was originally the May Department Store. It was acquired by the L.A. County Musem of Art where they had a Children's exhibit and offices and then it was sold to the Academy. I worked at LACMA in 2000, and I'm blown away at how good the building looks now. It was "Under renovations" when I was there.

18:27 The beginning of some selections of Vangelis’ amazing theme music from “Blade Runner.” Chills down my spine. One of the greatest movie soundtracks ever created. Vangelis recorded more than four hours of material for the film, not all of it used obviously, and still a lot of it not released officially (dozens of bootlegs available online).

The cars in this museum were really beautiful, definitely works of art. The movie artifacts were interesting too, as impressive as what can be accomplished with computer graphics nowadays, there's just something special about the creativity and innovation required to accomplish special and visual effects in the traditional way.

If you ever return to NYC, you should check out the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. It has so many interesting exhibits on various aspects of movie making, including editing, sound, makeup, and special effects. There are also movie and television inspired toys, movie magazines, vintage movie and television technology, and screenings of films from the beginnings of moviemaking to the present time. Best of all, there is a Jim Henson exhibit that includes genuine Muppets!

The Academy museum was mind boggling. Sam's piano from Casablanca is worth the price of admission alone. In my humble opinion, Casablanca is the greatest movie ever made. And then the auto museum? Wow. Just wow. I've said it before and I'll say it again. You can never invoke the Euem rule too much for me. However, the Batmobile was not the OG Batmobile. The George Barris built 1966 Batmobile is THE Batmobile. I will die on this hill.

Naked Lunch is an insane movie, its based on a novel by WIlliam S Burroughs it was considered unfilmable, but David Cronenberg (who also directed Videodrome the movie where that helmet in the cyberpunk exhibit is from) sure did try. The movie stars Peter Weller who also played Robocop
