I've been going to this museum since the 1970s. That growl sound of the sabre-toothed tiger bust when you put in the quarter instantly took me back about 45 years. I had no idea that a sound could be so deeply rooted in your core memory without being consciously aware of it!

I'm so glad you loved my "home museum"! It was great to see what has changed and what has stayed the same in the 7 or 8 years since I last visited. Also, orcas are my favorite animals, so this was all around an excellent way to start my week!!! I'd love it if you have time to swing by the Denver Zoo before you leave Colorado so I can see the new exhibits there, too, but I understand if you have other places you need to be.

Catching up on your more resent Colorado videos. It’s so fun watching you visit all these sites, but especially everywhere I’ve grown up. :) I’ve been to this museum more times than I can count. It was a staple of my childhood. Next time you’re in Colorado, I have a suggestion for somewhere I don’t think you’ve visited yet (especially with you mentioning your love for the taxidermy here). The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keensburg, Colorado is an incredibly unique experience where you’ll also see a LOT of bears! The sanctuary also houses tigers rescued from the Joe Exotic/Tiger King situation. The sanctuary is a cool little gem tucked away on 76 heading east. Thanks for sharing your adventures! I just watched the one where you stayed at the Stanley as well. That’s somewhere I’ve never stayed overnight but I’ve definitely been on a couple of the tours. :)

Greetings from a fellow Wisconsinite and museum enthusiast! The little carnivore at the entrance is a Ceratosaurus. Not entirely sure what the sauropod is. Brachiosaurus was the first thing to come to mind, but it’s hard to tell. I’m surprised they didn’t show the necklace that came with the Free Willy movie. I loved the heck out of mine and was incredibly sad when I lost it. I thought that colors exhibit looked familiar! How ironic you should come across it again. The backgrounds on the animal dioramas are wonderfully done. That globe that let you project different things on it was cool and clever.

I don't think I'll ever be able to see those dioramas and not remember the member-only kid Halloween event they put on a few years back (when my friends and I were still kids) and we made masks, created a cult around the masks, and then went into the dioramas that was set up to be a "haunted house" and pretended to sacrifice my best friend's younger brother before the fire alarm went off (We had nothing to do with it) and everyone had to be evacuated.
