The Promontory Building is probably named for Promontory Point. “PROMONTORY POINT, Utah, was the site of the dramatic completion, on 10 May 1869, of the first transcontinental railroad, which linked the Union Pacific on the east and the Central Pacific on the west. A giant crowd gathered to witness the final ceremonies. Following prayers and brief but grandiloquent speeches, the president of the Central Pacific, Leland Stanford, using a silver sledgehammer, nervously drove the last spike, made of gold, into a polished California laurel tie. A Western Union telegraph apparatus was connected along with the spike, so that Stanford's final strokes were instantly heralded in all cities of the United States. Two locomotives, Jupiter and 119, crept forward until their noses touched, and a cheering crowd confirmed a single-word telegram: "Done."

Hey C.B., Thanks for taking me to another fun place with you! I think I may be onto THE HOT TUB MYSTERY ... After all the hours of tiring walking and getting bruised up by the violent rides, people see the hot tubs and think, " It sure would be nice to sit and soak in one of those when we get home!"
@Themakeupchair152 жыл бұрын
so people expect one to be deliverd and fully set up when they get home cuz i would think i dont want to set that up now
@gr8scott1982 жыл бұрын
@@Themakeupchair15 If they are stupid, maybe. They wished they had a hot tub to get in to when they get home, but they know it's not going to happen. They also know if they get one soon, then the odds will be that next time they come home tired, sore, and achy, they can get in the warm, bubbly, jet-pushed water of their latest big ticket item, and " Oh Boy, Don't it feel good!"
@agerven2 жыл бұрын
Really old classic fair implying, from my POV, fun, sounds, smells, and old rides. "Danke" on the exit of the Cuckoo house does not literally translate as "Goodbye", but as "Thank you". They intend to say "Thank you for visiting our Cuckoo House".| i liked the quilt house, with traditional as well as some with a modern supernatural touch. Very nicely documented Jacob! i could have easily spent the day there enjoying myself and watching other people of all ages enjoy themselves". Danke!

I've been on that thing @12:20 the Speed or whatever, best 20 bucks I ever spent. There's something special about seeing the curvature of the earth while being upside down and flung away at high speeds that cannot be described. Didn't really feel in danger at any point, would recommend for thrill seekers, surprisingly fun ride.

When I was in my preteen years all the way to my early 30's the Zipper was one of my favorite Fair/Carnival rides. As I approached my late 30's I was no longer able to withstand the spinning and flipping of those rides. Now, in my mid 40's due to serious health issues, my days of Fair, Carnival, & even Amusement Park rides came to an abrupt end.

Thank you for sharing. And especially thank you for sharing your experiences by trying various rides. Interesting fried chicken ice cream sundae. I would try that. Thanks again for sharing! California State Fair is pretty cool. But also, a non-state fair is the Los Angeles County Fair which is also a cool one. Interesting spaces within, such as the aerial tram that under is a miniature village with train. Also, the National Orange Show in San Bernardina you might want to check if you are interested. Cheers.

Don't know if you've been to this one yet, but the Florida State Fair happens in the Tampa area every year sometime in February. Of course taking place that time of year, it wouldn't qualify under this year's state fair count, but might be a good starter one for next year. Also, from what I understand, what used to be known as, "The Sussex County Farm & Horse Show in Sussex County, New Jersey, has been taken over by a different presenting group now and has been re-named as The New Jersey State Fair. I lived in both NJ, and in FL, and have actually been to both & thought they were each pretty good. Now the NJ one, I haven't been to since before1994, when I moved from NJ, to FL, so you may need to do a bit of fact-checking regarding the name change, and when during the summer it takes place, it used to be sometime in August, before school got back into session in early September, and that may, in fact still be the case, but for the fact that it's been That Long since I've been to one, my info on it is likely to be quite off, plus that stupid disease thar shut the US down a couple years ago, may have changed things too. Also, if you've already been to either one, or both, please disregard.

OK Jacob, the next state fair you have to do the Bobsleds (vs. the Himalaya). Since the cars swing out as they go around it is a more comfortable ride than getting squished against the side of the car seat. Try it to feel the difference - please and thank you!

You are a serious lightweight when it comes to carnival and amusement park rides. Haha! :) I really miss the massive number of thrill rides that we used to see in carnivals and fairs where I live. For some reason, around the mid 80's, all the carnivals that came around here just... dropped their thrill rides and went entirely kiddie/toddler rides. Even the ride areas of our local fairs are just... kiddie stuff. I don't know what happened here, but I seriously haven't seen any flat ride that wasn't designed for a toddler here in decades. I remember being a kid in the 70's and half of the carnivals were these crazy, fast, wild, flip you upside-down, or toss you in all directions, fun, insanity. Those days are long gone, sadly.
