Filial trust is tested when we think we are not heard. We must, therefore, ask ourselves if we think God is truly a Father whose will we seek to fulfil, or simply a means to obtain what we want. If our prayer is united to that of Jesus, we know that He gives us much more than this or that gift. We receive the Holy Spirit, who transforms our hearts. Lord, help me to cling to you in faith even without any feeling of consolidation. Make my heart humbly turn to you. I trust you.🙏

*Lack of faith* is the most common yet hidden temptation to prayer. A practical atheist is one who just professes faith but does not live it out in humility, aware that apart from Jesus one can do nothing. *Acedia* - Fr Mike's definition - *I'd rather be somewhere else doing something else*. It's a lack of joy in doing the Lord's Will in this moment and place. *Filial Trust* is a test to refine us in tribulation. We must ask God to accept our praise and thanks so that he is glorifed. He is our Father and not an instrument to be used like a divine ATM or a genie in a bottle. God is a jealous lover and his love is true so we must ask with our whole heart and not a divided one. Filial trust in our good, good Father is the *key* to knowing that whatever we're going thro is what we need to go thro as he uses that for our salvation and the people around us, cos he loves them even more than we can love them.❤❤❤

In her Diary entry 1578, St. Faustina records our Lord's revelation: The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is - trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive. Souls that trust boundlessly are a great comfort to Me, because I pour all the treasures of My graces into them. I rejoice that they ask for much, because it is My desire to give much, very much. On the other hand, I am sad when souls ask for little, when they narrow their hearts

December 15, 2023 Forgive me for asking you so many times. Do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)

Please, pray for The Priests and parishioners who are being affected by the cancelation of The Traditional Latin Mass. I feel sorry and heartbroken for the Priests, especially the Priest at the Church ⛪ where I was attending the TLM in NE DC. Please, please say a prayer for the Priest at the Parish...Reverend Brian P. Sanderfoot, Pastor. Part of his community has been taken away ( The parishioners who attended the Traditional Latin Mass ). Six churches have been affected by the cancelation of the TLM at the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. I watch the TLM on KZbin but it is not the same 😢😢💔💔
@jamesmcgrath3841 Жыл бұрын
@WashingtonDC The TLM has been cancelled because of the actions and behavior of those who attend the TLM. They are creating division. Within the Church. And have brought this upon themselves. The Pope has do to all in his power to keep the Church united. With renegade Bishops like Strickland and Vigano, and priests like Fr Altman, he has little choice but to close down these sources of division. Those who attend the TLM and somehow think that is "superior" to the vernacular, are also sources of division.

This is an eye-opener. It reminded me to pray like we are children of God and always talk to God instead of only talking or praying when I need God. We also need to trust God when praying. The acedia or the carelessness about God's grace is a big sin, and the Noon Day Devil phenomenon makes us ask, "What's the point?". We must fight that feeling and continue our work as well as our prayers. The reflection on the image of God and faith was moving. We must live like Christ. We must consider God's test for what it is- God doesn't want to see us fail but wants to refine us through tests. Thank you so much for sharing this, Fr Mike and Team Ascension.. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless

I often wondered why people left the church in droves and days like today make it a little more clear. In the past 2 years I have worked very hard at getting closer to God. I've done BIY for 2 yrs back to back and added CIY this year. I go to church every sunday, every holiday of obligation. I attend weekday masses when I can. I give more than I can afford some weeks in my offering and donated to Christmas and craft fairs tons. So to come to a day where I feel like I am being called an "ATHEIST" which is like a curse word to me, is VERY upsetting. I truly think the Catholic Church needs to reconsider this wording. We are trying, We are striving, to throw a phrase like that at people because they are not of the cloth but are doing their very best is just harsh and detrimental.

Hang in there. Life and our prayer life goes up and down. The priest needs to talk to all of us who may be in different stages in our faith journey. There is such a shortage of priest or we could just talk to one personally and get advice or to be our spiritual director. I myself have fallen in to a laziness in my prayer life and this day 349 has caused to me think and priorities. Praying for you please pray for me.. ❤🙏

@Toniangel Being a "practical atheist" is not a "curse." Merely descriptive. I "believe" and my brother is an "atheist." But if you looked at the part of my life outside of church going, you would see little difference between his life and my life. That makes me a "practical atheist." Nor is Fr Mike actually calling you a "practical atheist." He is speaking in general. And his description definitely applies to me. It is not in the least bit offensive. Fr Mike is also not "throwing a phrase like that" at people who are "not of the cloth." I'm sure "practical atheist" could be applied to many priests also. Who are too busy to pray. No way can you describe what Fr Mike said as "harsh and detrimental." His tone is the precise opposite. I think you do Fr Mike a grave injustice.
