I was molested by a priest in the first grade. Listening to every single episode you have made has brought me closer to God and I have a true appreciation for priests and all that you do. This has helped me realize that transgression was on that specific priest and not on the entire priesthood. I am currently 30 years old and I have only been able to talk about it in the last 3 months. I literally told my parents 3 months ago. Thank you for all that you do and for helping me appreciate and realize the Father figure priests really are.

But we do have to pray to stop the predators & protect the victims. Yes it will be stressful to the predators when they are caught. Yes they will get the suffering they deserve. Some of the damage they have done to children will destroy their lives. They become addicts, alcoholics, they become self destructive, some even commit suicide. Their lives can be ruined. So what I pray for is against the predators. Justice needs to be done, they need to be stopped. Justice, the stoppage of these crimes is first & foremost. Then after they're stopped, pray for the souls of the predators, that they repent & not go to Hell. Have you ever seen a repentant predator Priest give his confession & testimony in public? I have not. All you have is Priests denying, denying, denying & other Priests defending, defending, defending. Now even these guys say it's only 1%. Sorry, maybe 1% got convicted, but it's been much more than that. And if it was only 1%, they could have fired that 1% & cleaned up the entire Church.

@@jimselimos4863 Jim, the Roman Catholic Church's Vatican Bank washes Mafia money. Which is a Satanic institution. Two hundred thousand Roman Catholic children were raped and this was covered up by the Roman Catholic Church. People think this is really disgusting, but Roman catholic Church members without a conscience or a soul, find it excusable. The Mafia makes their income from murder, prostitution and drugs. A conscience would help you Jim. It would help you associate with holy people, not evil ones. I'm not saying mass rape of two hundred thousand children is wrong, but a coverup too? And treasurer to Satan? Wow.

Priests are so thinly stretched now, and we do need to pray for them. So many of our parishes have only one. The parish we belong to has two English Masses on Sundsy, plus a Spanish one in the afternoon followed by a Latin one ( the pastor before him celebrated a Latin one )and our pastor now learned the Latin one for the parishioners). He’s not young either and I really impressed with his attitude. I’m a senior who grew up with 3 priests in a parish and six Masses on Sunday. Can’t imagine that now,

Lord Jesus, you have chosen Your priests among us and have sent them to proclaim Your Word and to act in Your Name. For such a great gift to Your Church, we praise You and we thank You. We ask that you fill them with the fire of Your love, that their ministry may reveal Your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power may work in their weakness. In their afflictions do not let them be crushed; in their doubts, do not let them despair; in temptation, do not let them be destroyed. Inspire them through prayer to live each day the mystery of your death and Resurrection. In times of weakness, send them Your Spirit and help them to praise your heavenly Father and to pray for poor sinners. With the same Holy Spirit place your word on their lips and your love in their hearts, that they may bring the Good News to the poor and revive the broken-hearted. Lastly, may the gift of Mary, your mother, to the disciple whom you loved, be your gift to every priest. Grant that she, who formed You in your human image, may form each priest in Your divine image, through the power of Your Spirit, to the glory of God the Father. Amen. (JPII implored the laity to always pray for our priests.)

I became close friends of a good priest 20 years ago. Here in L.A., he's still providing several outdoor masses a day, hears confessions and anoints when he can. I have learned that a good priest is one of the hardest working men on the planet, not just the stress and exhaustion of any very demanding job, but the emotional and spiritual demands. It's also fascinating to watch him in public in clericals and in civvies. We were going to an expensive fund raiser for the arts and I told him he was not going to wear his nice priest jacket and call himself dressed up. He wasn't going as a priest. It was all good until we were chatting with a woman and in five minutes he has to tell her he's a priest. She turned to me, "are you a nun"? I get angry sometimes when I watch him when he's struggling with his own tragic situations, and people know, but still are just constantly grasping at him, demanding a piece.

31:40 The Five Love Languages is one test that comes to mind here. It helps to determine what a person's gifts and talents are and how best to use them in an organizational structure. Also, I'm a big fan of the temperaments over the MBTI, because it too gives a better picture of a person's gifts, talents, and weaknesses. The MBTI tends to focus more on upsides only, where knowing one's weaknesses in addition to one's strengths is superbly helpful in determining how to assign people in an organization.

Dear Father, could you perhaps, if you have time, consider with the Bishop the possibility for the appointment of the Master of Ceremonies? With such a rich, flourishing parish, certainly it would be of ease to your planning schedule. I am an MC for one Manfred Grothe here with Good Catholics of Nordrhein-Westfalen, and I believe you would benefit from it! Certainly I would have come, if it wasn't for my dear Bishop. Best of fortune, Good Father!:)

There used to be a priest in my church (before I moved to a different county) every Sunday, the priest would bring his golden retriever to church. The dog never barked during mass and would always lay next to the podium. After church, the dog would walk with the priest to say goodbye/talk/blessings to the people leaving. And every church event like the celebration of the church, baptism, etc the dog would be with the priest. I truly believe that golden retriever will be in heaven walking along side the priest. It was a cute duo priest and the dog.

Reminds me of the first time I met our diocese archbishop. It was during my RCIA training and my class got to meet him in a casual setting. In trying to break the ice to start a conversation I walked up to him and asked him if anyone ever told him he looks just like the actor Kevin Spacey? (He is a dead ringer). He seemed to blush a little, but he smiled so I don’t think I embarrassed him too much.

I would think that the hardest part of being a Priest would be everyone looking for you to always be wise, always have the correct answer and having to do what your Bishop demands that is all Politics and Not Faith based.

Those bobblehead saints... Like, should they be used for veneration or what? It's kinda weird putting them in a Retablos.

You get asked about the celibacy thing a lot, because most young men don't see how that's even possible. And that's the thing that has discouraged many a young man from the Priesthood. I tried out celibacy when I was in high school for awhile. It was physically miserable and mental torture. I decided that perhaps, I didn't have the calling after all, and went to State University.

I went to a Catholic Grammar School and at a young age I thought the Priest just sat around and ate came outside while we were outside for recess and while we were in class they would stop by to visit Do daily Mass, Confessions and Funerals during the week. They would also teach us Religion once in awhile. Like a guest teacher. It is funny how differently you saw them through the eyes of a child. They also ran CYO.

I think a Priest should always have his collar on when out and about. Unlike the rest of the world His is a calling / vocation, higher than married life, it's not a job. It is natural for people to act diff when he is dressed that way because they are giving him a certain amount of respect that they would not do for others.

Contributing also goes back to the Old Testament where Cain was giving God the first fruits of his labor whereas Abel was not and did not find favor with God. My husband and I contribute as a family as much as we can as that is what God requires us to do by his law ♥️🙏✝️
